Firm: Robert J. Weber, P.C.

When I headed off to college in 1962, I had every intention of completing my four years and then becoming a teacher. But it seems life had a very different plan for me.. My vision for the future started to change during my junior year at Arizona State. It was then that I married my high school sweetheart. To build up our savings, I began working full-time and attending school part-time, which put me behind schedule from my original plan. I was alright with the change, though, because working ensured that my lovely new bride could still graduate on time.. After my wife graduated, I went back to school full-time. But just as everything seemed to be getting back on track, another wrench was thrown into the works — I was drafted into the Vietnam War. I had never envisioned myself joining the armed forces, but I chose to embrace the idea by applying to Officer Candidate School for the U.S. Air Force. Unfortunately, though, my military examiner deemed that I had “bad feet,” which led to my exclusion from the war.. It was only after my military career was denied that I realized I hadn’t made any backup plans for the future. Fortunately, an opportunity presented itself in the form of Arizona State’s new law school. It was scheduled to open just as I was debating what to do next. With my father’s encouragement, I decided to apply. The rest, as they say, is history.

Firm: Scott Campbell PLLC

Tempe Attorney Scott Campbell. In 2009, I started to practice law, but that was not until after a 25-year career in law enforcement. For those 25 years, I worked for the City of Plantation, Florida, Police Department. In addition, for 9 of those years, I was in charge of the “Major Crimes Unit.” The major crimes unit investigated all sorts of violent crimes including murder and rape. During my career in law enforcement, I was able to experience all levels of police work; from being a patrol officer all the way up to a supervisor of detectives.. I believe that my career in law enforcement has been able to help me successfully do my job as a criminal defense attorney. I will often have people ask me, how I can defend accused criminals; after I was the one putting them behind bars for so many years? Because everyone has a right to Due Process and everyone is innocent until proven guilty.. As Americans, we have certain rights and there are people that may try and take those away. They can come in the form of bad laws or bad police officers. If we start cutting corners on how we arrest and prosecute the criminally accused; we would be ignoring the United States Constitution. Without the Constitution, we lose an essential aspect of being an American. We will always need watchdogs to keep an eye on those in power. Whether it’s protecting citizens against a police officer who believes in bending the rules; or protecting citizens from the government imposing unjust laws, it’s a job I am proud to say that I do.

Firm: Joan Bundy Law

Joan Bundy, owner/attorney-at-law of Joan Bundy Law, became passionate about divorce and family law while serving as a prosecutor. Most of her case load involved domestic-violence matters. She spoke firsthand with domestic-violence victims, heard their stories, and helped bring them justice. She saw how the legal system can be a positive force to help families escape abusive and sometimes life-threatening situations, and move on with their lives.. As a prosecutor, Joan learned another important lesson: The justice system’s adversarial nature can sometimes stand in the way, not help bring about, a positive outcome in family law cases. When she opened her own family-law practice in Chandler, which she saw as a natural outgrowth of her previous experience, she saw many of the same patterns. Too many divorce and family law cases are characterized by needless conflict between the two parties and their attorneys. The result is a lengthy, expensive, heart-wrenching process that leaves lasting scars, particularly when children are involved. Only the attorneys stand to gain from high-conflict litigation.. Joan’s job is to advocate for the best interests of her divorce and family law clients. She does not hesitate to assertively advocate for them if the situation requires it. If the other party or opposing counsel are uncooperative, there is no other choice. Still, she believes that cooperation is the preferred approach because it often brings faster, more efficient, happier, and longer-lasting outcomes that benefit both her clients and their families. In fact, she has extensive training and experience in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation and arbitration.. Joan reviews each client’s legal matter individually and recommends the approach that she believes, through years of experience in family law, will work best. If the parties are willing to work together to resolve their issues, she may recommend mediation or another form of alternative dispute resolution instead of going to court.. As a divorce and family law attorney, Joan’s goals are to:. Joan grew up in a small Iowa town, which she credits for her traditional values and strong work ethic. She has lived in Arizona since 2000. Before entering the legal field, she sharpened her communication skills as a journalist and public relations professional.. The proud “parent” of many cats and dogs past and current, Joan considers companion animals to be part of the family and is a recognized national expert on animal law issues. She is a past chairperson and current member of the Executive Council of the State Bar of Arizona’s Animal Law Section and, for many years, has been a board member of, volunteer for, and financial contributor to many animal welfare organizations.. She also is an ally to the LGBTQIA+ population and has provided estate planning, co-parenting, dissolution and adoption services to many same-sex individuals and couples over the years. She is a recognized local expert in LGBTQIA+ family law issues.

I was Assistant Attorney General for 16 years in the Child and Family Protection Division of the Arizona Attorney General’s Office. I had an amazing career in government, but the time had come for me to make the move from public to private family law practice. In my years with the AGO, I interacted professionally with many law firms here in the Valley and I wanted to work with the best. Having seen firsthand the caliber of attorneys working with the Stewart Law Group, their professionalism, high ethical standards, and the quality work they were doing for their clients, that was the firm I wanted to work for. And in 2016, I joined the family law team as Associate Attorney.. When I’m not at the office, I volunteer in the community for “Neighbors Who Care,” an organization that arranges for dinner delivery to homebound elderly Arizonans. I’m looking forward to taking on more challenges, doing important work for those who need legal help and advice, and being more active in my local community. When the agenda is simply to relax, I love travelling to destinations known for their sandy beaches or mountain vistas. As an attorney, you carry a lot of your client’s stress. So I try to maintain a healthy lifestyle, have lots of fun, and stay fit doing hot yoga, playing tennis, hiking, and trail running whenever and wherever I can.

I want to be a part of changing lives for the better and my life has lead me in that direction.. Graduated from University of Nebraska-Omaha with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2003. During this time, I worked as Team Leader for a Residential Treatment Center treating minors with co-occurring disorders and it was there that I observed best interest attorneys, who focused deeply on an individual basis of how to support their clients with empathy, compassion, and a focus on how they would thrive long-term.. It was then that I knew this is who I wanted to be, in my work everyday.. I went on to receive my Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, College of Law, May of 2007. During my time at law school, I focused on Criminal and Family Law. After graduation, I moved to Arizona to work at the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office as a Law Intern. Passing the Arizona State Bar exam that was conducted the Summer of 2007 was a great accomplishment. Shortly thereafter, I became a Deputy County Attorney in January of 2008 for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. As Criminal Prosecutor for the majority of my career, I have fine tuned advocacy. As a trial Attorney, I have prosecuted both jury and bench trials. Additionally, I have presented cases before the Grand Jury. As a prosecutor I primarily practiced in Juvenile Delinquency matters. The last decade specifically was spent working with Juveniles with Sexually Maladaptive Behaviors and sexual boundary concerns.. After twelve years as prosecutor, the time became right to transition into private practice. Why? I realized, however, that I was missing something. I was missing the ability to go back to what sparked my interest in doing this work everyday by being able to work with clients directly, having a direct impact, and being able to help them thrive long-term. Today, as founder and owner of my firm, I work with clients like you in a people-centric way, focused on how to help you in the space where you need it most. My focus is advocating for my clients in Domestic Relations topics and Juvenile Law with personalized compassion.
