Judge in Town of Walden since 1990 to present. I will represent you zealously and vigorously.
I was born in Chicago Illinois, and had a great childhood in Chicago in a large family. When I graduated high school I worked three years in a steel mill while attending college part-time. I eventually joined the military to finish my schooling on the GI bill. In the Army, I worked as an operating room technician (handing the surgical instruments to the surgeon) for 3 and 1/2 years in a military hospital in Honolulu, Hawaii (a wonderful assignment as you might expect). As planned, I finished schooling after I left the military, and the GI bill funded my tuition all the way through law school at Southern Illinois University. I am forever grateful that I was afforded that luxury that so many others are not. Upon my graduation from law school in 1986, I returned to the U.S. Army as a JAGC attorney, where I practiced as a criminal defense attorney at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky for three years. Upon my discharge in 1990, I entered private practice first in Nashville, Tennesseee for three years, then in Chattanooga, where I have remained for the past 20 years. I love Chattanooga, and I am very impressed with the legal history and traditions of our town, and the first rate judiciary our town seems to consistently produce. Having worked in so many other jurisdictions, I am keenly aware how lucky Chattanooga is to have such a friendly, competent bar, and fair, concerned judges. My staff and I try our best to honor and uphold the high standards of the Hamilton County courts, and we will do our best to help every client that puts their faith in us.

I have learned over the time I have been a lawyer that good people fall on hard times and make mistakes. When they do, they need someone who will be there for them to help them out. I have also learned that law enforcement and the district attorney do not necessarily fill the role most of us were taught they filled when we were growing up. Abuse of power is rampant, and many in our system have forgotten their role is to seek justice, not exact vengeance.. My education and background has led me to want to help people that make mistakes and protect them from those who want vengeance, not justice. I enjoy fighting for my clients and making sure I do whatever it takes to legally and ethically protect them and advance thier interests.

I advise and represent:. I have been retained by and have served as approved or panel counsel for insurance carriers in the defense of insureds under a variety of insurance coverages, including Auto, HO, CGL, Workers' Compensation, OAIC, EPL, D&O and E&O policies.. I am active in bar association committees and attorney organizations addressing legal ethics, professional responsibility, professionalism in the practice of law, and issues relating to the unauthorized practice of law.
I am proud to be part of the team at Houston & Alexander. I have been practicing criminal defense since 2010. Attorney Chase Walker is a young attorney full of energy and a desire to help others. Over the years, Chase has seen numerous legal issues arise with various friends and family members and often heard the same two complaints: I can't afford an attorney, and I don't feel like my interests are being fairly represented. Too often, attorneys claim to be client-centered, while simultaneously trying to figure out how they can resolve as many cases as quickly as possible, for the maximum profit, and with the least amount of time and effort possible.. After taking the bar exam, Chase put a lot of thought into what kind of attorney he wanted to be. The answer? An attorney who provides legal services to those who ordinarily could not hire an attorney or get free legal aid and one who truly puts client interests first. He recognizes that, generally, two groups of people are able to obtain legal services: those below 125% poverty who can get free legal aid, and those who are making enough money to afford hundreds or even thousands of dollars in attorney’s fees. He recognizes that there are many hardworking Americans who do not fall into either of these groups but still are in dire need of legal assistance. He also believes that clients’ needs always supersede firm profits. Sometimes this means spending more hours making less money to achieve a just result.. To achieve his goal, Chase started The CW Firm, his own firm where there are two main goals: to provide legal services to hardworking lower and middle-class Americans who could not otherwise get legal help, and to always place people above profits. He does this by charging reasonable legal fees that working-class people can afford, and by always ensuring that the result matches the client’s goals. The CW Firm is a general practice providing a variety of legal services to the greater Chattanooga area. Some areas of practice include Real Estate Law, Business Law, Estate Planning, Personal Injury, and Criminal Defense.
At Houston & Alexander, you will find forty years of combined legal experience. Call: Email: Web:. After attending Sewanee on an academic scholarship and completing his legal studies at The University of Texas, Bret returned to Chattanooga in 2001 to practice law at Chambliss, Bahner & Stophel, P.C., where he worked on litigation ranging from property disputes to Trade Secret Misappropriation claims.. Bret moved to the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office in early 2005 where he served the community as the federally funded Governor's Highway Safety Office DUI Prosecutor from January 2005 to October 2007. During his tenure as the County's DUI Prosecutor, Bret handled hundreds of DUI cases, numerous vehicular assault and vehicular homicide matters and tried more DUI cases to a Criminal Court jury than any other attorney.. Due to his courtroom experience, Bret was hired in November 2007 to serve the United States as a federal prosecutor handling crimes - drug importation and immigration cases - arising along the international border between Arizona and Mexico. Bret represented the United States in hundreds of immigration cases and numerous drug importation actions. Many of Bret's drug matters involved drug quantities in excess of 10 kilograms of cocaine or methamphetamine (or more than 800 pounds of Marijuana). Bret handled sentencing hearings for the Yuma office before eleven federal district judges at The Sandra Day O'Connor Federal Courthouse in Phoenix, Arizona.. Bret and his family returned home to Chattanooga in 2010 where Bret handled felony cases in Hamilton County Criminal Court before being promoted to a position as the County's Gang Prosecutor. As the Gang Prosecutor, Bret represented the State in several violent felony trials and further served as a liaison between the District Attorney's Office and other government agencies, including the Mayor's Office and federal authorities.. During a criminal jury trial, Bret was noticed by General Counsel for Life Care Centers of America, Inc., a national skilled nursing and assisted living company with facilities in twenty-eight states. He was hired as a supervisor in Life Care's legal department, overseeing federal regulatory issues, facility issues, contract matters as well as professional and general liability matters. Bret attended mediations and arbitrations on behalf of the company, and he analyzed case strategies presented to the company by the myriad of outside law firms hired to represent Life Care nationwide.. Bret recently returned to Chattanooga to work with long-time friend (and previous legal adversary) Johnny Houston. As with Bret, Johnny's practice focuses on Criminal Defense, DUI representation, and Personal Injury matters.. Bret and his family live in the Chattanooga area where Bret enjoys mountain biking with friends and kayaking with his family.
