I'm a criminal defense lawyer. I represent clients in military, federal, and Illinois courts. My practice concentrates on the most serious cases, such as allegations of white-collar crime, sexual assault, and computer crimes involving children.. I'm a founding member of one of the nation's most prominent military law firms, Gagne, Scherer & Associates LLC. I've been involved with criminal law since law school in the mid-1990s. I served in the Air Force twice, first as a Russian Linguist and then as a JAG. I've done trials throughout the United States and in several countries overseas.. I have been a baseball analyst and researcher since the early 1990s, affiliated with STATS, Inc., Baseball Prospectus, The Hardball Times, Bill James Online, and the Society for American Baseball Research. In addition to my interest in baseball, I'm an avid reader of fiction, poetry, Shakespeare, and true crime. With the exception of my military service, I'm a lifelong Chicagoan. I was born in Wisconsin and have lived in Chicago since the 1970s.. I graduated the University of Wisconsin and then I worked in the area of child abuse for eight years for the department of Children and Family Services before I decided to go to law school.. I worked as an attorney for the Legal Aid bureau in Chicago, doing divorce and providing services for an underserviced population from 1990 to 1995.. In 1995, Marta and I decided to open up our own practice. Since that time, Marta and I have had the practice. We now have an office at 161 N. I started in this business when I was 18 years old.  I was a receptionist at a mid-size Chicago lawfirm and then worked as a legal secretary for a solo practictioner, and a real estate paralegal at a large firm in Cincinnati, Ohio.  I started law school at Kent College of Law in Chicago when our son was 3 months old.  While working full time and finishing law school at Salmon P.
