My passion for litigation began while in law school where I was selected as the senior member on the National Invitational Trial Advocacy Team and earned the Warren D. Wolfson Award for Best Trial Advocate of the entire law school. After obtaining my law degree with honors in 2003, I served as a prosecutor with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office and rapidly ascended the ranks becoming one of the youngest prosecutors ever to earn the title of 'Special Prosecutor'. While there, I successfully tried over 50 complex bench and jury trials to verdict on behalf of the People of the State of Illinois. In 2007, I joined the law firm of Paul B. Episcope, LLC where I utilized those trial skills in pursuit of justice for injured individuals and their families in the civil arena. In 2011, my partners and I founded the Chicago-based personal injury law firm of Tarpey, Jones & Schroeder, LLC. To date, I successfully have tried several criminal and civil jury trials to verdict, have recovered millions of dollars on behalf of my clients, have argued in both the First and Second District Appellate Courts of Illinois and have been selected as a Super Lawyer "Rising Star" in Illinois for my accomplishments. My extensive trial experience has provided me with the necessary tools to represent my clients with excellent results.

In addition to my trademark and intellectual property practice, I have extensive experience representing clients in complex business disputes, including in federal and state trial and appellate level litigation and arbitration proceedings.

My practice and that of the firm, remains limited to family law. Our office concentrates on all aspects of family law including divorce, child custody, all financial aspects related to divorce and separation. We have extensive trial and appellate experience on issues related to child custody, tracing and classification of assets and income, division of property and child support and maintenance (formerly known as alimony). Some recent noteworthy successes include: The classification of Husband's stock in a closely held corporation as marital property. Prior to the marriage Husband held 2305 fully vested and exercisable stock options at a strike price of $1.00 per share. The options were not exercised until two years after the marriage and the strike price paid with marital funds. At the time of trial the stock was valued in excess of $6,000,000. The Wife, our client, was awarded $2,500,000 for her interest in the stock, from an investment of $2,305 of marital funds. We successfully defended the Judgment on appeal in the Second District Appellate Court and on a Petition for Leave to Appeal to the Illinois Supreme Court. The reversal of an award of exclusive possession of the marital residence to Wife. On Appeal in the First District Appellate Court, the trial court was found to have erred in ordering the Husband to vacate the marital residence due to the claim that his presence caused the Wife stress and discomfort. This was the first published case on the issue of exclusive possession in 17 years.
