I was born in Elkhorn, Nebraska and graduated from Elkhorn High School in 2006. I studied finance at the University of Texas at Austin before returning home to Nebraska to work for Rural Media Group, family-owned media company headquartered in Omaha. From May 2010 through June 2014, I was employed as the Executive Vice-President of Finance and worked directly with the chief financial officer to manage the company’s capital structure, evaluate growth opportunities, and implement the management team’s various initiatives. During the majority of my time at RMG, the company operated without a general counsel. As a result, many of the functions that would typically be handled by a general counsel, such as reviewing purchase and lease agreements, assessing insurance policies, and drafting program licensing agreements, fell upon my department. In fact, it was this exposure that inspired my interest in transactional law.. I began at Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa in the fall of 2014. After completing my first year, I served as a summer associate at Davis Brown Law Firm. As a summer associate, I engaged in general corporate and real estate practice including drafting agreements, forming business entities, and analyzing abstracts of title. The following summer, I served as a legal intern with the Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s office. My job duties included representing the County Attorney in court proceedings such as juvenile court and magistrate court.. Upon graduating from Drake University Law School, I resumed working for Rural Media Group, Inc. as general counsel. In January 2018, I decided to join my husband's law practice, Solheim Law Firm LLC, in Crete, Nebraska.
