The Amendment closes insurance company loopholes that prevented consumers from receiving the full benefits they thought they were buying when purchasing UM/UIM coverage in Colorado. Every UM/UIM automobile insurance policy issued or renewed in Colorado on or after Jan. 1, 2008 is affected by this very important change.. On the State level, Mr. Zaner regularly teaches for the Colorado Trial Lawyers at their state convention, statewide CLEs, and for CTLA’s new lawyer bootcamps, He has also spoken at the prestigious Arkansas Trial Lawyers College on one of his favorite topics: transplanting 2,000-year-old trial techniques from the Roman trial lawyer Cicero and demonstrating how they can be effective in today’s trials.. Kurt has been recognized by his peers for his achievements, earning the Super Lawyer designation – a recognition for the top 2.5 percent of lawyers in Colorado. He has also been named as a Top 100 Trial Lawyer in Colorado by The National Trial Lawyers, an invitation-only organization comprised of the most celebrated trial lawyers across the country. Kurt consistently maintains a 10.0 SUPERB rating with AVVO, an attorney rating system that considers a lawyer’s practice, professional achievements and industry recognition. He is also published in Who’s Who and is recognized in a variety of other national organizations as a preeminent trial lawyer. KRISTIN A. CARUSO holds a B.S. from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, an M.B.A. from the University of Denver, and a J.D. from the University of Denver, where she served as an editor of the Denver Journal of International Law and Policy. She is also a Medicare Set-Aside Consultant, Certified.  Ms. Caruso is admitted to practice in the State of Colorado as well as the United States District Court for Colorado. She practices litigation in the area of general civil litigation, including workers' compensation defense with a specific focus on high profile cases including professional sports. There is no issue or claim in Workers’ Compensation law or procedure that Ms. Caruso has not analyzed for employers and their insurers.  From risk management counseling to defense of claims to appeals, her practice covers all aspects, including: Employers/Insurers on Workers’ Compensation Claims, Administrative Penalties, Bad Faith Claims, Arbitration, Mediation, Settlement, Appeals, Subrogation, Complex Case Analysis and Evaluation, Remedial Writs, Exclusivity of Remedy, Specialized Services, Medicare Secondary Payer Act and Complex Structured Settlements, Conditional Payments and Appeals, and legislation.  She has litigated countless workers’ compensation cases for various insurance companies and large self insured companies, and argued appellate issues in all of Colorado's appellate courts. Kristen Frost is a trial attorney who represents individuals in various jurisdictions, primarily state and federal courts in Colorado and Illinois.  Prior to joining Ridley, McGreevy & Winocur, Ms. Frost practiced law as a Colorado State Public Defender in the Jefferson County trial office where she represented indigent clients charged with all kinds of felonies and misdemeanors.. Before practicing law in Colorado, Ms. Frost practiced criminal defense litigation in Chicago, Illinois, with the Law Offices of William P. Murphy where she handled a variety of serious matters in federal, state and municipal courts.  Ms. Frost has argued before the Illinois Appellate Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago.  She has also represented individuals before the Illinois Prisoner Review Board where she composed petitions and argued on behalf of those seeking executive clemency from the Office of the Governor of Illinois.. In addition to her trial practice, Ms. Frost represents individuals whose cases are on appeal and has briefed matters before the Illinois Appellate Court, the Illinois Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and has filed a writ of certiorari to the Supreme Court of the United States.   Ms. Frost has appealed County Court convictions in both Jefferson and Adams Counties in Colorado and has handled administrative appeals.. During law school, Ms. Frost was an editor for the DePaul Journal of Art & Entertainment Law, a Sullivan Fellow for the International Institute of Human Rights Law at DePaul University College of Law, worked as an extern in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and studied for a semester in Ireland through the international exchange program at the University of College Dublin.. Immediately after law school, Ms. Frost pursued a fellowship in international criminal law and human rights in Siracusa, Italy, at the International Institute of Higher Studies in Criminal Sciences.  She has used this experience to assist law students at the University of Colorado law school who participate in international law moot court competitions.. Ms. Frost has extensively studied both Italian and French.
