I worked full-time through graduate school and law school. I have practiced law in the Denver, Colorado area since 1992. My office specializes in insurance disputes and personal injury claims.  I operate a small practice where we can offer each of our clients personal attention, expert legal advice, and diligent representation.  We offer unique legal experiences in the area of long-term disability — including those claims governed by ERISA as well as individual policies - and are one of the few Colorado law firms with extensive experience in such matters.  e are also experienced in cases involving PERA Disability Retirement, life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, long-term care insurance, general insurance denials (bad faith), and general personal injury matters.

I bring 25-years experience as a civil and environment engineer working in the construction, water, environmental, and human development sectors into the legal field. My life and professional experience enable me to help my clients reach their objectives through contested litigation in the courts and/or through agreements/setllements with their opposing parties. I focus my practice in all areas of family law in addition to construction defect and environmental law. I am licensed to practice law in Colorado and has been awarded Avvo Client’s Choice 2021 Award. I am specialized in litigating highly contested divorces and child custody cases in the District Courts of Denver, Arapahoe, Douglas, and Jefferson. I earned my Juris Doctor from Sturm College of Law in Denver. I received my Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University in 1994.

I am an Associate at McConaughy & Sarkissian, P.C., licensed to practice in all Colorado state courts and the United States District Court for the District of Colorado. Prior to joining McConaughy & Sarkissian, P.C., I was an attorney at Hall & Evans, LLC, where I practiced civil litigation, administrative, and regulatory law, covering a wide variety of practice areas including health care, professional liability, premises liability, products liability, insurance coverage, campaign finance, and construction defects. I also own and operate my own firm, Busby Law Group, PLLC, focused on representing health care providers before their licensing agencies, in civil litigation, and as general counsel, as well as all other aspects of administrative law.. I have an extensive background in government, previously serving as the Director of the Mental Health Boards with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies. I also previously served as Chief of Staff for the Colorado State Senate, after quickly working my way up the ranks from a Policy Intern, to Policy Analyst, and Policy Director. As a policy staffer, I focused on a variety of policy areas, including construction defects, education, healthcare, insurance, business, marijuana, public finance, and natural resources policy.. I graduated from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law as a member of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society and with an Environmental & Natural Resources law certificate. While in law school, I worked full time at the Colorado State Senate and interned with a litigation law firm and a regulatory law firm. I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy and Government with a minor in Law Studies from the University of Colorado – Denver.
