I grew up in the small Eastern Oregon town of Milton-Freewater. I moved to Eugene to attend law school at the University of Oregon in 2002, and have lived here ever since. My husband and I are busy raising three children, Zack, Nolan, and Henry. I enjoy gardening, photography, and exploring all that Oregon has to offer.

I grew up in Eugene and attended South Eugene High School. After college at Vanderbilt University I returned home to go to Law School at the U of O. My practice focuses on Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability law. My wife and I have three kids who keep us on our toes all the time. I enjoy skiing in the winter and running year round. I am involved in Rotary and Lane County's Teen Court.

I began my legal career in 1975.  It has always been my intention to deliver justice in whatever way I could to my clients.  When I was a referee/administrative law judge, I held thousands of hearings in the Willamette Valley and Southwestern Oregon.  The hearings were administrative, and more often than not the parties were not represented.  It was up to me to help each party develop its best case and then rule on the case with a final written order.. When I was with the Attorney General's Office defending claims for SAIF, I had an oportunity to learn how the workers compensation system worked.  It was a revelation which led me to leave and represent injured workers, for that is where my heart is.  I am still doing it.. I take great pleasure in helping my clients through very difficult situations.  I know it is especially important to help them through the maze of programs in addition to the workers compensation system, to ensure they get through with as few losses and indignities as possible.  My staff and I feel it is our duty to do so.. For six years I served on the Local Professional Reponsibility Committee.  Its purpose was to contact lawyers who had been the subject of complaints and interview and recommend for or against prosecution by the Oregon State Bar. I believe the Bar is at its best when it promply and impartially responds to complaints, whether from other lawyers, citizens or clients.

I am an appellate and trial lawyer. For over 30 years, I have handled business disputes, class action claims, product liability claims, and labor and employment matters. I was recently at the forefront of national litigation concerning punitive damages and constitutional law. I am also an accomplished labor and employment lawyer, and as such regularly provide day-to-day advice and direction on employment and labor matters in addition to defending clients before administrative agencies and in state and federal court.

I am a graduate of the University of Oregon School of Law, a recipient of the pro-bono law certificate, and a member of the Lane County Bar Association as well as the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyer's Association. I have practiced with Public Defender Services of Lane County, worked with Legal Aid Services of Oregon, and Clerked for the Honorable Cynthia Carlson of the Lane County Circuit Court.

I am a 2010 graduate from the University of Oregon School of Law.  I clerked for the Lane County Circuit Court from 2010 to 2011.  I started practicing law in Roseburg, Oregon where I worked in private practice doing criminal defense, delinquency defense, dependency defense and family law.  In 2016, I left private practice and became a public defender so that I can focus 100% of my practice to helping clients without worrying about their ability to pay.  I moved back to Lane County where I grew up, and joined Public Defender Services of Lane County, Inc. where I do almost exclusively dependency defense, representing children and parents in juvenile court when DHS has alleged abuse and/or neglect in the family.

Everett represents individuals and business entities in the areas of business law, employment law, real estate matters, construction liens and/or defects and landlord rights. He is an experienced and skilled litigator and represents his clients in court whenever that becomes necessary.. Outside of the office Everett is a constant reader and a serial hobbyist who enjoys spending time with his wife and introducing his two small children to not wholly appropriate music.
