I am an aggressive and dedicated attorney with a great deal of experience.  I began my career as a State's Attorney for Cook County and now I defend those charged with all manner of crimes, be it a traffic case (and the all the consequences that result with the Secretary of State) or a much more serious felony.  I will always put my clients first and fight for their rights and their freedom.. After graduating from IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1989, I worked with Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago handling Landlord/tenant, Eviction, Disability Appeals, and other civil matters. After being licensed in 1990 I joined the Law Office of the Cook County Public Defender where I worked throughout varies divisions including Child Protection, Juvenile Justice, Paternity, Misdemeanor, Traffic and Felony over my 16 year career in the office.. I am the proud mother of 3 amazing young men, 26, 24 and 22. I’ve been a DCFS Foster Parent and a DCFS adoptive parent. I am a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Zeta Xi Sigma Alumnae Chapter, an International Sorority and member of the Divine Nine.. I have always been active in public interest. In high school I was able to gather petitions and get a stop sign placed between two main thorough fares where students crossed over getting to class from one building to the other. The school and CPS hadn’t gotten it done. I did. I was the First Black/African-American President of the Student Bar Association at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in 100 years of History. I was Awarded the Alumni Award from the Law School Alumni association upon graduation. Once active in the Legal Community as a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, I was Awarded the Young Lawyer of the Year by the Illinois State Bar Association. Fast forward to 2008, as the Volunteer Field Organizer we ran the Obama campaign office in the South Suburbs from my Law Office. To serving 8 years on the School District 161 School Board..
