Kristie Cohen graduated from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI in 2006 with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Legal Studies. While attending Eastern Michigan, Ms. Cohen was engaged in a double bachelor’s program for Legal Studies and Psychology, with minors in chemistry and biology. I now run my own practice, Duran Defense LLC. I am 11-3 in trial. Most attorneys will not admit to you how many trials they have lost because they are afraid. I am not afraid. As Wayne Gretzky famously and wisely said, "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take."  I have won 78.5% of my trials, many of which seemed like lost causes to my clients when they first retained me. And that number does not account for the dozens of cases I have had dismissed right before trial because the prosecutor or opposing counsel knew of my reputation.

I am a native Floridian, and   have  spent the last 30 years building relationships with prosecutors, judges, law enforcement officers and court   started my  criminal defense career at the Dade County State Attorney’s office and  later, the Broward County Public Defender’s office in the late 1980’s.  Then  I opened my criminal defense law  office in downtown  Fort Lauderdale at 320 SE 9th St, Fort Lauderdale and have been there ever since.
