After graduating from Hofstra University with a B.B.A. Magna cum laude, in 2007, Richard attended the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University where he earned his J.D. in 2010.  He is admitted to practice law in both New York and New Jersey.  He has held various positions within the legal community such as a legal intern at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office’s trial zone part. Mr. Toscani also clerked for the Honorable R. Bruce Cozzens Jr., of the Nassau County Supreme Court.. Mr. Toscani worked for a very successful litigation defense firm for the past five years where he focused on building and maintaining client relationships and establishing a foundation of knowledge for the areas of law he currently practices.  His work over this time helped develop Mr. Toscani’s legal skills to what they are today and has served as a base from which he can grow and expand his practice.. Admitted to practice in 1979, Maureen Rothschild DiTata earned her bachelor’s degree magna cum laude from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1974) and graduated Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her law degree from St. John’s University School of Law (1978).. She is the current Co-Chair of the Elder Law, Social Services and Health Advocacy Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association and serves on its Surrogate’s Court and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees.  She also belongs to the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, the Long Island Chapter of the National Aging in Place Council [NAIPC], the Mineola/Garden City Rotary and the North Shore Service Group.  She serves on the Attorney Advisory Board of LIAF (the Long Island Alzheimer’s Foundation), on the Heart Advisory Council of the American Heart Association and on the Community Advisory Board of The Amsterdam at Harborside, a life care community in Port Washington.  She was honored by the Yashar Chapter of Hadassah as the 2010 Woman of the Year.  She is a frequent lecturer on issues concerning estate planning, asset preservation and elder law.

Admitted to practice in 1973, Mr. Balkan has concentrated his practice in the areas of ethics and professionalism, the representation of attorneys in disciplinary proceedings, professional liability defense, and insurance coverage analysis.. Mr. Balkan joined Hofstra University School of Law in 2008 in an adjunct capacity of Special Professor of Law teaching Ethics.. In addition to having authored articles on Professional Liability, Mr. Balkan has lectured at New York State Bar Association and Nassau County Bar Association programs and seminars on Ethics & Professionalism, and professional liability.. Mr. Balkan is a former chair of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Nassau County Bar Association, where he presently serves on the Executive Subcommittee, he served on the Committee of Professional Discipline of the New York State Bar Association, and he was appointed Administrative Judge to the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor..
