Robert D. Moreton is a Partner at WhitbeckBennett, focused primarily on family law and bankruptcy. Prior to joining the firm, Robert co-founded a small law firm in 2012 where he gained invaluable litigation experience representing clients throughout Northern Virginia. In more than a decade of practice, Robert gained particular familiarity with the complex interplay of divorce and bankruptcy and possesses unique experience practicing in bankruptcy and state court.. Robert spent his early years moving across the country until his family settled in the D.C. area where he completed high school. A “black sheep” in a family of engineers he began his collegiate studies as an NCAA Div. III lacrosse player at Stevens Institute of Technology. He ultimately shifted focus and transferred to North Carolina State University, where he graduated with a B.S. in 2007. He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in 2010 before returning to the D.C. area.. No two families are the same and every inter-partner dynamic is unique. I was born and raised in Fairfax County, VIrginia, but practiced law in the Boston area for 25 years before returning to Northen Virignia in the fall of 2003.  I am acitve in several community and non-profit groups, and serve on the board of directors of the Herndon Rotary Club and the Council for the Arts of Herndon.

I moved to the Northern Virginia in 2017 and really enjoy the area.  Working for Ashley F. Morgan Law has been very rewarding.  I love helping my clients resolve their tax issues and helping settle their nerves when it comes to owing back taxes.

I am a Northern Virginia native, having grown up in Clifton/Centreville, and presently residing near Herndon.  I attended the University of Tennessee College of Law where I obtained my Juris Doctorate.  Prior to law school, I attended James Madison University where I obtained a B.A. in History and a minor in Music.. I primarily handle a variety of practice areas including general litigation, real estate matters, contract disputes, business formation, sale, and disputes, and more..
