I am honored to accept referrals and confidential inquiries from private practitioners, corporate counsel, professionals, or executives who need advice, trial counsel, someone to lead an internal investigation, or to assist them with other corporate governance matters. I work closely with other counsel to ensure that clients are getting appropriate advice.. A little more about me and my beliefs. I'm also an author, leader, and a part-time academic. While I stay quite busy with my professional obligations, there is far more to life than being an attorney--which can be an all-consuming profession. I value time with my family and consider myself to be, more importantly, a loving husband, father, and a Christian. And, from having worked since my teens, I appreciate the importance of hard work and in taking pride in what I do.. So much is at stake when people hire a lawyer that nothing less than giving it your best is sufficient. That does not mean, however, that an attorney must be a jerk to be effective. Instead, being an effective advocate means caring about your client, being professional and courteous other lawyers, and with court personnel, and government officials.. I put myself through law school while working full time. Later in my career, when I reached a very advanced position at a young age within the federal government as a prosecutor, I felt I needed to put my skills and experience to their best use--which led me into private practice. Before doing so, however, I returned to law school and obtained an advanced degree (an LL.M. in Tax Law) while working full time.. I was recruited into a blue chip firm in Houston, and a friend convinced me to get another LL.M. (Health Law) to further hone my knowledge and skills in this arcane area of practice. After obtaining this third law degree, I have maintained my ties with academia by teaching as much as my time permits.. At bottom, I am a blessed individual. I have many good friends and colleagues, a wonderful family, and believe that I have been blessed with the God-given talent and strength to serve others effectively. I still have the passion and desire to excel and to leverage my skills to the best of my abilities.. I am a native Texan, born and raised in Dallas. I left Texas to study economics at Purdue University and graduated in 2010 with honors. At Purdue, I participated in AIESEC and regularly played in all intramural sports. Also, I attended Bejing Jiaotong University for a semester on an expenses-paid scholarship to study Chinese. Studying abroad was not only educational but also incredibly fun and showed me how important it is to me to travel.. After college, I attended Baylor Law School in Waco, Texas and graduated in February 2014. In law school, I competed in the National Health Care Law Moot Court competition and successfully made a break out of 30 teams across the country. I also competed on the Transactional Law Meet team. Both of these competitions sharpened my advocacy skills I continue to use in my practice. During my first summer of law school, I interned with the Honorable Judge McFarland in the 133rd District Court in Houston, and the internship taught me insights relating to the courtroom I rely on still.. Before starting my firm, I worked at a mid-size family law litigation firm and a defense litigation firm both in Houston.. In my free time, I enjoy traveling abroad to hike and camp, including the Inca Trail in Peru and Patagonia in Argentina. I also had the chance to work on an alpaca farm in New Zealand for six weeks after I took the Texas bar exam, which was a unique way to experience a new culture. I have also been to South Africa, Germany, many Asian countries, and continually look forward to adding more stamps to my passport. Locally, I also appreciate what Houston offers, such as its famous restaurant scene.

As a Board-Certified Family Law attorney, my practice focuses on complex property and highly contentious custody cases across the State of Texas. I likewise have a wide range of experience relating to drafting unique/tailored divorce provisions in shareholder and other business entity agreements, including formulas for valuation of the corresponding entity, with "belt and suspenders" to premarital and/or post-marital agreements. I believe these types of agreements - premarital and post-marital agreements - create a form of "divorce insurance" - insuring and giving peace-of-mind not only to the client but also, when applicable, to the corresponding entity, new shareholders, or even investors from the instability that can often arise during a divorce.. I am Board Certified in Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and a frequent speaker and author. I have been recognized among Texas' Top Lawyers by Super Lawyers, including Top 50 Women in 2022. The Houston Business Journal also recognized me among Women Who Mean Business in 2021.. I am a natural competitor, stemming from my extensive soccer experience at the collegiate and National levels. I attended Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on a full athletic scholorship and played on the Women's Varsity Soccer Team for my four years at Wake Forest. I graduated in 2007 from Wake Forest with a B.A. in Spanish and Communication, and immediately began my legal careeer at Southern Methodist University (SMU) Dedman School of Law, graduating in 2010.. My goal is to empower my clients to become effective advocates for themselves and their families by providing dedicated, zealous and results-oriented representation before, during, and after litigation.
