AndrewCook is personal injury attorney in Houston, TX. He strives to protect the rights and best interests of individuals and small businesses, and not shield corporations and insurance companies from their responsibilities. Among the cases handled by Andrew Cook are auto accidents, truck accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, medical malpractice, maritime accidents, product and drug liability, wrongful death and bad faith insurance claims.. Cook was born in Beaumont, Texas. He graduated from Monsignor Kelly Catholic High School, earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia’s Honors College, then earned his Master’s degree from St. John’s College in Maryland. Soon after graduating from St. John’s College, he took up law at the University of Texas School of Law. Cook did well in oral advocacy competitions and courses, won the inaugural Mock Arbitration National Championship in Minneapolis hosted by the American Bar Association, and was invited to become a National Member of the Order of Barristers.. After graduating from law school, Cook moved to Houston, Texas where he began his legal career as a defense lawyer for a commercial litigation and civil defense firm. After almost four years of representing corporations, he realized that he was meant to do other things. Instead of representing large corporations, he wanted to represent individuals and small businesses victimized by corporations, and so he began to work as a plaintiffs’ attorney with another law firm.. As a plaintiffs’ attorney, Cook was fortunate to handle hundreds of cases both in and out of court, many of which involved representing residential and commercial property owners exploited by their insurance companies. It was while litigating numerous Hurricane Ike claims that Cook gained instrumental knowledge and experience on dealing with personal injury claims against insurance companies and corporations—companies that often disregard their responsibility to the public, including their policyholders, clients, and customers.. Cook knows full well the physical, emotional and financial damages that personal injury victims and their family members face during such trying times. This is why Cook and the legal team at The Cook Law Firm, LLC are fully committed to tirelessly advocating on behalf of personal injury victims, safeguarding their best interests and helping them achieve justice.

Allen Tanner has extensive experience in representing people who are facing serious criminal charges. During his years as a criminal defense lawyer, he has represented thousands of individuals charged with all types of felony offenses. He has tried felony jury trials involving capital murder, sexual assault, burglary, aggravated robbery, Medicare fraud and drugs. He has tried 15 death penalty cases to juries in Houston, Victoria, Fredericksburg, Corpus Christi and Austin. His most newsworthy case was that of Angel Maturino Resendez, known as the "Railroad Killer," in February of 2000.. Many of Allen Tanner's clients plead Not Guilty and take their case before a jury. As to the guilt issue, Allen Tanner realizes that nothing in life is more serious than to be falsely accused of committing a crime. He understands that serving time for a crime you did not commit is unimaginable. However, many clients choose to admit their guilt. Allen Tanner then attempts to lessen their punishment whereby they receive pretrial diversion, deferred adjudication or a lesser sentence from a jury. He often uses psychiatric testimony to attempt to explain and mitigate his clients’ actions.. Allen Tanner graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 1978 and the University of San Francisco School of Law in 1981. After passing the Texas Bar exam in 1981, he worked as a prosecutor at the Harris County District Attorney's office in Houston until 1985, when he opened his own private law practice. The only types of cases he has handled are criminal defense cases. Allen Tanner became Board Certified in criminal law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in 1989. He has never been disciplined by the state bar of Texas.

After our youngest child was born with cerebral palsy, my wife and I started a non-profit charity to provide special needs children the opportunity to take dance, art, photography, and theater classes. The charity called The River Performing and Visual Art Center also provided a six week summer art camp program open for these children and their siblings. Not only did The River provide quality programming, it also provided a respite for parents who could drop off their kids for a few hours knowing that our trained staff and nurses would be there to provide the care required for their kids to enjoy their time at our center. Since its inception over 20 years ago, The River has served over 20,000 kids. Many come free of charge thanks to the generousity of our donors. 3 years ago The River merged with Theater Under The Stars....TUTS. TUTS provides live theater, educational programs, and community outreach throughout Houston and the surrounding community. Last year alone, more than 236,000 people of all abilities experienced the music and wonder of live theater and educational programs provided by TUTS including the special needs and out reach programming developed by The River. I am more than proud to now be on the board of directors for TUTS and am pleased to see how our merger has served to open even more doors for chidren who were often overlooked when it came to participating in the arts. At The River, the main goal is to allow every child who participates the opportunity to be a star!

Since then, Mr. Amaro has successfully represented thousands of people and businesses in various legal matters, including personal injury claims, business disputes, insurance claims, hurricane claims, and commercial litigation. Under his leadership, the Amaro Law Firm tried the first Hurricane Ike case to verdict, assisted thousands of individuals and businesses with their claims against BP for damages from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, and won a landmark case before the Texas Supreme Court which will provide a mechanism for millions of Texans to protect themselves from hospital billing fraud.. Every year since being founded, the Amaro Law Firm has recovered several millions of dollars for its clients who have been personally injured or suffered damages in business and insurance disputes. Mr. Amaro has instilled his firm and staff with his relentless drive and determination to effectively represent the firm's clients with the utmost duty of candor and loyalty.. Prior to founding the firm, Mr. Amaro gained a wide breadth and invaluable work experience working at some of the largest national and state based law firms in Wisconsin and Texas. In his career, Mr. Amaro has written federal opinions for a federal judge and worked for many large defense law firms. His experiences have given him the perspective to manage his firm's cases efficiently and effectively. In the beginning of his legal career, Mr. Amaro was an aggressive defense attorney with a Houston insurance defense firm where he learned how the "insurance racket" works. He was in the advanced sequence of his studies in the middle of his junior year before he decided to change his major to economics and pursue a career in law. Before finishing his studies in economics at the University of Texas, Mr. Amaro co-founded a popular internet based business in Austin which provided marketing and social services to students and to companies marketing to students. The company exploded in popularity and was advertised on the radio within 3 months of launching and became one of the most visited websites in Austin by university students. Also while in Austin and only at the age of 20, Mr. Amaro obtained his real estate license and began selling and leasing apartments and condos all over the Austin area. Today, Mr. Amaro still owns interests and invests in real estate and internet technology companies.. Through this experience, Mr. Amaro has learned how the judicial system perceives insurance and personal injury claims and the common strategies of insurance defense law firms and the insurance companies that pay them.
