Cook did well in oral advocacy competitions and courses, won the inaugural Mock Arbitration National Championship in Minneapolis hosted by the American Bar Association, and was invited to become a National Member of the Order of Barristers.. After graduating from law school, Cook moved to Houston, Texas where he began his legal career as a defense lawyer for a commercial litigation and civil defense firm. After almost four years of representing corporations, he realized that he was meant to do other things. Instead of representing large corporations, he wanted to represent individuals and small businesses victimized by corporations, and so he began to work as a plaintiffs’ attorney with another law firm..
