Colby is a seventh generation Texas native who specializes in civil litigation and trial. A graduate of UT-Austin and the University of Houston Law Center, Colby began his career working on a team that obtained billions of dollars for stockholders who lost money to securities fraud committed by firms all over the United States – including an energy company called Enron.. Rivaling Colby’s passion for justice is his in-depth and intimate knowledge of the strategies and tactics of those attorneys he faces. He spent many years in the trenches defending clients against wrongful injury lawsuits. He successfully defended his corporate clients against suits alleging tens of millions of dollars in damages. Colby learned their tips and tricks and seen their cunning and guile employed against plaintiffs large and small.. When you hire Colby, you are engaging a seasoned attorney who knows exactly what you will be facing on the road to justice. Unlike many of the attorneys at assembly-line firms, there’s no tactic that will catch him off guard. He’s been the corporate hired gun. He’s seen it all before, and he’s not afraid to roll up his sleeves and go toe-to-toe with opposing counsel if that’s what it takes to get you justice.. When not litigating, Mr. Lewis volunteers at the Shriners Hospital for Children as a member of the Hospital Driver’s Corps.  Mr. Lewis is also active in the Houston community, serving as a Houston Stock Show and Rodeo Committeeman, Advisory Board for Oilfield Helping Hands, and as Assistant Legal Counsel for the Arabia Shrine Temple of Houston.

His interest in science and the space program started early with the science fair in Louisiana in the fifth grade with an exhibit on the physics of oil well drilling. In the 7th grade, he was sent to the University of Texas at Austin for advanced study in science and mathematics. He remained in Austin furthering his studies until graduating from the University of Texas with a degree in math, physics and chemistry. Following graduation, Chip worked for the NASA man space craft program participating with astronauts in Apollo, Skylab and Soviet Soyuz, which developed the docking system used today on the space station. Among many notable achievements was the cardiovascular research study of the effects of weightlessness on the cardiovascular system using the lower body negative pressure device during Skylab, ultimately resulting in the pulse oximeter still used in most hospitals today.. While attending the University of Texas, Chip developed a love for flying, obtaining his private pilot’s license with the Long Horn Flying Club and later received high performance training in Houston from M. Aak Aviation whose owner trained with Amelia Earhart.. While at NASA an agreement was reached with the research group that he would work on Skylab and go to night school for his law degree. As he was anxious to develop his courtroom skills while still in law school, he became a civil court bailiff preparing briefs and analyzing motions for the court’s approval; while simultaneously serving as a certified deputy sheriff with civil court bailiff duties.. Chip’s deep love and respect for the environment also began in college when he joined the U.S. National Park Service, working in Rocky Mountain National Park and Yosemite National Park as a back country ranger and trail crew member during the summer months. Since then, the firm has supported many environmental efforts and toxic tort litigation, including the Reforestation of Independence Pass near Aspen, Colorado.

After graduating Law School, I served as an Assistant District Attorney in Houston, Texas, for 3 1/2 years where I learned how to try lawsuits. I prosecuted everything from misdemeanors to murders.  Leaving the DA's office, I went into private practice handling most everything that came in the door.. In 1989, I was certified in two areas by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization-- Family Law and Civil Trial Law. I'm very proud of these certifications.  The qualifications are restrictive and the exams were difficult.  I've maintained these certifications by being re-certified every 5 years.. My proudest accomplishments are as a husband for 40 years to my best friend, father to three children and grandfather to three wonderful little girls.
