My wife and I have kids in public school, where I volunteer. You should know that law is my second career, so I know the difference between the "real" and the "theory" of life and law.. I have worked in science and the law, so I have an easier time understanding how real people's issues translate to law practice. I value hard work, value, and trust, and I give my clients all three things. In my role as a scientist, I looked at data and was hands-on helping other scientists navigate technical issues. I gave others the run-down on what they were trying to do with complex instruments, and what the path forward to success looked like.. As a lawyer, I do the same thing, except for those people now facing difficult issues with criminal justice.. Outside of work, I am a very devoted family man and father to my children.  I am an avid outdoorsman, having been hunting since my early teens.  I love to deer and turkey hunt, with many wall hangers for both.  I also am an avid fisherman, especially in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) around and near Ely, Minnesota.  My interest and love of that area, began in 1983, as a young Boy Scout.  My father and I, as well as other family members, have been traveling there for 30 years, to enjoy the pristine wilderness and wildlife, as well as world class fishing.. I am also an avid historian, especially of military history.  I have a vast collection of military art, signed by WW2 veterans who served in various branches of the US Armed Forces, the British Army/RAF, as well as in the German Army/Luftwaffe.. Lastly, I have a profound weakness for single malt scotch and good single barrel bourbons and whiskey.

I have been practicing law since 1978. From 2002 to 2010 I also served in the Missouri House of Representatives. I helped write the DWI laws that are now in effect in Missouri. I was recognized and given an award by the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys for my work on behalf of injury victims during the "tort reform" debates in 2005.  I have represented hundreds of injury victims and thousands of drivers in traffic courts.
