Kelly St. John is a seasoned personal injury attorney at DiPasquale Moore. Informed by her experience in personal injury, criminal defense, municipal prosecution, ordinance drafting, and contract review, she works without rest to get the very best results for her clients.. Growing up, Kelly was inspired to pursue a career in law because she saw the difficulties her friends and family members faced with divorce, custody issues, and the like. She wanted to help other children and families avoid running into the same problems. However, her passion did not lie in family law. It wasn’t long until she found she could still make a difference and help people in other areas of the law.. Before turning to personal injury law, Kelly started out her legal career as a criminal defense paralegal. She also clerked for a judge at the Jackson County Courthouse in downtown Kansas City, where she gained invaluable experience and formed lasting connections. Her time in criminal defense effectively armed her with top-tier research skills, which have proved useful when investigating personal injury cases.. At DiPasquale Moore, Kelly treats every client with the compassion and respect they deserve. She takes each case personally, which is why she is so passionate about doing the best job she can. Her approach begins with an assessment of the who, what, when, where, and why of the situation; she then digs deeper to uncover key information to prove the case.. Originally from Manhattan, Kansas, Kelly has now made Olathe her home. She went to high school in a small town called Meriden before attending Washburn University to earn her bachelor’s degree. From there, she moved on to study law at the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law.. Kelly is an active member of the community. For instance, she holds membership to numerous professional organizations, including the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City. She was selected to participate in the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association’s Ross T. Roberts Trial Academy and regularly volunteers at the association’s annual telethon, during which lawyers field phone calls from the public and answer basic legal questions. Additionally, she has had the honor of being elected to serve on The Missouri Bar’s Young Lawyers’ Section Council to represent District 3 (Jackson County, Missouri). Her other community work involves raising money for Hope House, Wayside Waifs, and Missouri Pitbull Rescue, among other charitable organizations.. When Kelly is not in the office or helping her neighbors, she enjoys bonding with her dog at the “bark park” and spending time with family and friends. She loves to travel, play softball, participate in a bowling league, and play recreational sand volleyball. And even though she’s a diehard Denver Broncos fan, she often uses her Chiefs season tickets to go to football games.

I was born and raised in Leominster, Massachusetts. Leominster is diverse working class city of about 45,000 people in North Central Massachusetts 40 miles west of Boston. I always wanted to be a lawyer though I have no relatives in the profession. My father was a construction worker for over 35 years and my mother still works as a secretary. I was raised with the belief to fight for the little guy and good causes.. When I went to law school, I promised my parents that I would never work for large corporations but fight for people like us. I got interested in employment litigation my first year in law school when my dad was working in a ditch that did not comply with OSHA trenching standards and it collapsed on him. As a result of the accident, my dad has never worked again and has gone through multiple surgeries to repair damage to his knee. To see my parents struggle with only one income and see how much work meant to my dad, I realized my calling was to help people protect their employment rights. As a result of the accident, I clerked for the United States Department of Labor and began to immerse myself in learning laws that protect employees.. Since my graduation from law school, I have worked hard to keep true to my commitment in helping people like my mother and father protect their rights at the workplace. My continued commitment has brought many successes.. Should you need help, please feel free to call is. We know how much your job means to you.
I specialize in personal injury. I do not represent corporate managers or insurance companies. I represent real people. That is why I dedicate so much of my time to the representation of individual victims.. I recognize how difficult the legal process can seem and I make it my business to take the stress and complexity off the shoulders of our clients. YOU are my top priority.. I recognize that each client and case is different but all of my clients receive fair and aggressive representation.
I helped form PEAK for the same reason I became an attorney, I like solving problems and I’m not afraid to take risks or think outside the proverbial “box.” I am very fortunate to be surrounded by other lawyers at PEAK who feel the same. If you are reading this, I hope it means we will be working together.. I grew up on a farm in rural Nebraska complete with corn, soybeans, and a horse. For a short time, I even went to school in a one-room schoolhouse (seriously). I am also a triplet. From my early childhood, I loudly advocated for myself—how else do you get heard in a household with triplets, much less in a school where one teacher is teaching multiple grades at a time? I recall people telling me I should be an attorney and it stuck with me. After attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, I made my way to UMKC for law school.. I graduated from UMKC with highest honors and was fortunate to be hired by Shook, Hardy & Bacon LLP in 2007, where I was promoted to Partner seven years later. As an attorney at Shook, I spent most of my time working as national counsel for a Fortune 100 company dedicated to providing life-saving products and services. It was a great job and a great client. I worked on a flat-fee model, litigating all over the country. I immersed myself with the client’s business. I learned from some of the country’s best attorneys and even found myself sitting at trial counsel table at an early stage of my career (a rarity for a young, “BigLaw” attorney). The client ultimately rewarded me for my hard work by allowing me to first-chair a jury trial notwithstanding my (relative) lack of “gray hair.” I am proud of my trial experience. And I love everything associated with a jury trial.. In the eleven years I have practiced law, I have worked on nearly every type of civil lawsuit. I have handled straight-forward “slip-and-fall” cases as well as multi-million-dollar contract disputes. I have resolved high-stakes, business-to-business litigation. No matter the case or the issues, clients are best served by a lawyer who thinks strategically and practically. A “win” is not truly a win if the client’s legal fees are unreasonable or if there is a lack of alignment between the client and attorney. I am always mindful of the value attorneys need to bring to any dispute.. I formed PEAK because I would like to revolutionize the practice of law. If you are looking for legal advice or have a problem you would like to solve, I would love the opportunity to speak with you.. Credentials:. Education: B.A. University of Nebraska (2004); J.D., summa cum laude, University of Missouri--Kansas City (2007). Bar Admissions: Missouri and Kansas. Honors: Kansas City Business Journal, Best of the Bar (2014); Super Lawyers, Rising Star (2015, 2016, 2017), Super Lawyers, Super Lawyer, (2018). Community Involvement: Kansas City’s Association of Women Lawyers, Board of Directors (2015, 2018); Kansas City Liquor Control Board of Review, Board member, (2012-2017).. Publications: Charles C. Eblen & Kristina L. Burmeister, Minimize Liability in Freeze and Burst Lawsuits, Fire Protection Contractor, Dec. 2013, at 28; Paul A. Williams, Charles C. Eblen & Kristina L. Burmeister, Minimizing Tort Liability With The Right Terms, Law360, Feb. 28, 2012.
I grew up on a farm in central Kansas and graduated from Kansas State and NYU School of Law. I live in Kansas City, Missouri, and have a license to practice law in both Kansas and Missouri.. I represent people who've been injured by someone else or by a defective product. I also represent people in insurance disputes and people who have been defrauded by their investment advisors.. Most people who have been harmed need a lot of help navigating the legal system. You're not just up against the person who harmed you, you're also up against their insurance company and lawyers. The insurance company's goal is to pay you as little as possible.. I used to represent big companies at a big Kansas City law firm, but I like representing individual people a whole lot more. Starting my own firm to do this kind of work was the best decision I ever made.. If you have been harmed and someone else is at fault, please give me a call, and I can talk with you about your case for free. In injury cases, I do not take any payment upfront, and I do not get paid unless you receive a settlement or a court judgment. In business disputes and investor fraud cases, I also usually work on a contingency fee, but some clients choose to pay me at an hourly rate. Initial consultations are always free.. Because I work on both injury cases and on financial fraud cases, I have worked on a wide variety of cases over the years. I have handled many kinds of injury cases involving motor vehicles, including car crashes, semi-trailer wrecks, motorcycle wrecks, and wrecks caused by drunk drivers. I have handled many different kinds of fall cases, including falls from balconies, falls on ice, falls on liquid spills, and falls in potholes and other dangerous surfaces. And I have handled many kinds of cases involving defective products, including medical devices, home appliances, and chemical products.. I have also represented many clients who have been defrauded, cheated, and lied to by their broker or investment advisor. Most of those cases have to be filed in arbitration, because there is usually an arbitration provision in your contract with your investment advisor. The arbitration process is a little different than court. You will need someone that understands that process. I am certified as a FINRA arbitrator, which means I can serve on the arbitration panels that judge other investor fraud cases, in addition to being able to file cases for my own clients. If your broker or investment advisor did you wrong, please give me a call to discuss your case.
I am a trial advocate.. I am a founding partner of PEAK Litigation LLP, a commercial and tort law firm built on 21st century goals and ideals. We are a female-owned and female-controlled law firm committed to delivering outstanding results for clients using fee structures that provide clients with budget certainty.. PEAK does not believe in the billable hour. The billable hour drives a wedge between the goals of the client and the interests of the attorney while simultaneously crushing the attorney's soul. PEAK firmly believes humans were not placed on the earth to monitor their time in six minute increments. There is a better way.. I am a life-long Kansas City resident who has tried and won jury trials and commercial arbitration hearings. I love healthy debate and enjoy being in the courtroom. But I also know litigation is not about the attorney. ("We are not the show.") I therefore strive to settle clients' problems and understand the importance of achieving a resolution outside of the courtroom whenever possible.
