I was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. I attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where I got my MA, MA and JD degrees. I practiced law in Nashville for several years before returning to Knoxville in 1985 to join my current firm, which was then known as Morton, Lewis, King & Krieg. Since then, the firm has grown to almost 100 attorneys in Knoxville, Memphis and Nashville, and has changed its name to Lewis Thomason. I began working at the age of 15 and continued to work at nights and on weekends while earning a college degree.. I graduated from Maryville College with a degree in Sign Language/Interpreting and worked in this field for a few years. While going with my hearing-impaired clients to see their lawyers I noticed my clients were not treated with the respect and dignity they deserved.. I wanted to do things differently. After I got my law degree from the University of Tennessee I began representing people on their claims for Social Security disability benefits.. I have represented thousands of clients at hearings before the Social Security Administration for over 20 years and I know what is required to be found disabled.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Law, Cum Laude, in 2016. During my final year at UT Law, I was a student attorney in the Innocence and Wrongful Convictions Clinic. My time in the clinic was an amazing, educational experience that allowed me to help people unjustly imprisoned while learning from the mistakes of much more experienced criminal defense attorneys.. Fresh, experienced, hard working attorney practicing criminal defense after working on all sides of the courtroom. Through law school I interned with a judge and the public defender's office before representing indigent clients as a student attorney through the prestigious Law Students in Court program.
