James was born and raised in Johannesburg, South Africa. In his senior year of high school, his family immigrated to Southern California where he graduated from Temecula Valley High School. After earning his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brigham Young University, James attended The University of New Hampshire School of Law. During law school, James served as an editor for IDEA: The Intellectual Property Law Review and competed in the National Saul Lefkowitz Trademark Moot Court competition in New York City. James also completed a judicial externship for The Honorable Dean D. Pregerson, at the United States District for the Central District of California. In 2005, James graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor degree. James also obtained a Masters of Intellectual Property Law from UNH’s prestigious Franklin Pierce Law Center for Intellectual Property.. James started his legal career at one of the oldest and largest firms in Las Vegas. Later, he was part of a merger with a large regional firm where he was mentored by some of the best appellate talent in Nevada. Having developed a skill to create the record and preserve issues for success on appeal, James decided to turn his focus to litigation and trial advocacy in pursuit of being a well-rounded commercial and civil litigator and trial attorney. James’s state and federal practice concerns all matters related to insurance defense, with an emphasis in insurance bad faith litigation, premises liability, and professional liability. James also regularly provides coverage opinions to national insurance providers. He is active in the Clark County Bar Association and is currently serving his third two year term on the Executive Board. He was formerly the Editor-in-Chief of Communiqué from 2010 – 2012.
