Once graduating from law school, a local insurance defense firm hired Tristan and he went to the dark side to defend prominent Las Vegas nightclubs and casinos in the courtroom.  While working for the insurance companies, Tristan learned the ins and outs of their tactics  - knowledge that he now uses to the advantage of his personal injury clients.  He knows full well what it takes to make insurance companies pay.. Equipped with this insider knowledge, Tristan successfully transitioned to a law firm where he exclusively represented personal injury plaintiffs against the corporations he had previously defended.  Working at this fast-paced environment, he discovered his passion for fighting for the rights of the victims of negligence. Tristan’s clients will tell you that his devotion to personally address their concerns is surpassed only by his passion to get them the results they deserve.. Tristan’s interests extend beyond personal injury.  He is involved with Las Vegas Rescue Mission and commits his time to supporting local and national efforts to raise funds and awareness for cancer research.. In his spare time, Tristan makes an effort to go to the gym in a vain attempt to recapture his youth.  At one point, he was even an amateur boxer.  Being a lawyer, however, has robbed him of the luxury to turn up to work with a black eye, so instead of his fists, he now fights with his mind.. I was born on September 20, 1972 inChicago, Illinois and moved to Las Vegas with my family at the age of 11. Aftergraduation from Bonanza High School, I immediately enlisted with the NevadaArmy and completed a tour of duty in the Middle East during Operation DesertShield and Desert Storm as a Military Police Officer. During my service, Iprimarily guarded and escorted enemy prisoners of war, for which I received anumber of commendations and medals including the Southwest Asia Service Medalwith two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, theSouthwest Asia Campaign Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Award, the Nevada StateCommendation Medal, and the Governor's Outstanding Unit Award.. Following my military service, Ireceived two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Communications Studies - Rhetorical Theoryand Criminal Justice in 2000 from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. I nextattended the Boyd School of Law and received my Juris Doctorate degree in 2003.. While still a full-time studentcompleting my undergraduate degrees and during my first two years of lawschool, I was employed at Binion's Horseshoe, where I started as a pokerdealer, was promoted to Shift Supervisor, and culminated my poker career as the2002 World Series of Poker Tournament Coordinator. In that role, I completedtournament scheduling, hired and supervised over 200 employees, revisedtournament structures and handled marketing and public relations. These latterresponsibilities included interviews with ABC, NBC, FOX, ESPN, ESPN Radio, theBBC, Associated Press, United Press International, Card Player Magazine andPoker Digest.. While at the Boyd School of Law, Iserved as a judicial extern for the Honorable James C. Mahan, United StatesDistrict Judge. I was also the Chair of the Executive Board for the Society ofAdvocates, the law school's moot court team. I participated in the WesternRegional of the American Bar Association's 2003 National Appellate AdvocacyCompetition, being named the tenth best oral advocate out of competitors fromover twenty law schools. I also was awarded the CALI Award for Banking Law, anaward given to the top grade in that class. I also participated in the PhiAlpha Delta Law Fraternity, an organization dedicated to public service bytightening the bond between the local community and the legal profession.. I continue to support the Boyd Schoolof Law as a loyal alumnus, most actively participating in judging moot courtcompetitions and helping to prepare Society of Advocate's members for variouscompetitions. In addition to my Nevada Bar membership, I am a member of theAmerican Bar Association, the Clark County Bar Association, the Howard D.McKibben Inn of Court, and the Nevada Justice Association.
