Firm: Maloney & Parks, L.L.P.

Zach holds a B.A. from Texas A&M University and received his J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of law. Zach was also a police of officer for the city of Bryan, Texas. As a law enforcement officer he performed numerous arrests, and filed investigations from narcotics, assaults, and other crimes. His experience in the field as a patrol officer has been invaluable in helping clients wrongly accused. His unique perspective offers a real look at what an offense report means as opposed to what it states. After law school Zach became an Assistant District Attorney for the 81st District Court. This district covered five Texas counties. In this rural setting Zach’s duties covered every aspect of a felony case from intake, to grand jury, indictment, pretrial, trial and appeal. With only 5 attorneys to represent such a large area the caseload covered everything a felony prosecutor would ever face.. A short stint with a civil firm in Alvin, Texas gave Zach the tools and knowledge to have a successful civil practice. Eventually, he decided that his main interest, knowledge and experience was in criminal defense. After a couple of years of a successful general practice, Zach was retained on a case and invited the expertise of his colleague Calvin Parks. Preparing and trying that case together lead to the formal creation of Maloney and Parks, L.L.P. in January 2007. With the creation of the partnership, Maloney and Parks, LLP is able to expand their criminal and civil practice beyond Galveston and is better able to serve their clients.

With a lineage of family settling in the United States of America over several generations, under many variants of US immigration law, and by all manner of visa pathways, I commit to helping my clients with their own journey to the US, whether seeking opportunity or reuniting with loved ones, a temporary journey or a permanent relocation.. I earned my JD and Texas bar admission in 2008, and immediately dove into a diverse caseload at Lone Star Legal Aid, the 3rd largest free legal aid provider in the US.  In 2014, I drew on my UHLC clinical training in founding Poole Law Center.. In addition to helping clients navigate complex immigration laws, I am passionate about enriching the law as a profession. As a Director on the State Bar of Texas Immigration and Nationality Law Section, I enjoy serving with an amazingly dedicated and talented group of immigration attorneys and collaborating with other sections to provide programming and resources for the advancement of the profession.. As Chair of the Texas Supreme Court’s Grievance Oversight Committee, I am privileged to work with a diverse group of attorneys and public members to meet with stakeholders all across the state reviewing the Texas attorney discipline system.. As a member of the Alvin Community College Advisory Board, I enjoy endless inspiration from fellow board members and students alike of the dedication and vision that transformation and growth require.. I am a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and Texas Bar College. I previously served in multiple roles for the Galveston County Young Lawyers, Galveston County Bar Association, and on a District Grievance Committee. Firm: The Law Offices Of Tad A. Nelson & Associates

In 1994 after a successful career as a prosecutor, Mr. Nelson opened the doors to a different type of law practice. Mr. Nelson wanted to build a unique law firm that was more concerned with a client's well being than the fee the client was generating. Well being does not always just mean getting the client a good deal. Well being means helping the client understand the process, well being means explaining all the obstacles that the client faces, and most of all well being means assuring the client that you are doing all that you possibly to get the client a satisfactory outcome. Tad Nelson has created a unique law firm that provides the client with big city experience and a small town feel. How can you tell if a lawyer is concerned about your case more than their bottom-line? When you sit down and talk with them about your case, always note what percentage of the conversation is about the fee you need to pay them. You also look to see what they do outside the office. Are they involved in their community? Do they donate their time and money to make their community a better place to live? Do they do things that help those less fortunate than himself? The reality is; if a lawyer does not care enough about the community he lives in he probably will take the same approach with his clients.

I have argued a case in front of the Texas Supreme Court. I recently won a case affecting DWI cases across the State in front of the Court of Criminal Appeals. I’ve handled literally hundreds of criminal cases. I trust juries. I go into every case my firm takes on assuming we will have to try the case to a jury. This preparation very frequently leads to dismissal of the case. I have tried over 60 jury trials, with the vast majority leading to a not guilty verdict for my client. In 2017, I tried 17 jury trials, leading to 13 verdicts of not guilty or the case ending in a mistrial due to errors on behalf of the State. It will be difficult to find an attorney more driven or dedicated to their clients. When I'm not in court, you will frequently find me fishing, boating, and spending time with friends and family in the Galveston area.
