She is the first female recepient of the Leadership in the Law Award, Generation JD in all of Southern Maryland. She was previously an Associate Attorney at a private law firm in 2013 after 6 years with the Office of the Public Defender. She served St. Mary's County as an Assistant Public Defender from 2007-2011 where she defended over 4,000 criminal and traffic cases in both the District and Circuit Courts. In 2011 she transferred to Washington County where she defended major felony cases (including murder, robbery, burglary, child abuse, sex offenses, etc).. Ms. McClernan is a graduate of the University of Arizona, a 2007 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, and was admitted to the Maryland Bar in December of 2007. She is a current member of the Maryland State Bar Association, the St. Mary's County Bar Association, and Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International. She is the former President for the St. Mary's County Bar Association and the current Mock Trial Coach for Leonardtown High School. Anne Emery created the firm in 2004 after retiring from the State's Attorney's Office for St. Mary's County. Over 18 years she prosecuted major felony cases (including murder, child abuse and rape), traffic cases (both minor and serious) and worked with DSS to establish paternity and enforce child support orders.. Ms. Emery is a graduate of the University of Maryland, a 1987 graduate of the University of Baltimore School of Law, and was admitted into the Maryland Bar in June of 1987. She is also a current member of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland, the Governor's Commission for Judicial Selection for St. Mary's and Calvert counties, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity International, the Maryland State Bar Association and the St. Mary's County Bar Association. She previously served as President of the St. Mary's County Bar Association and has served on the boards of the St. Mary's Council on Children and Youth, and the Tri-County Youth Services Bureau.Ms. Emery has completed courses in the handling of domestic violence cases, contested custody matters, child abuse and computer crime. Alycia Stack has spent her career litigating in Southern Maryland, helping families and children through times of crisis.  As a partner at Williams, McClernan, & Stack LLC, she concentrates her practice in family law, including divorce, child custody, and adoption. She most recently represented children in the child welfare system, throughout foster care, terminations of parental rights, and adoptions as a Staff Attorney at Maryland Legal Aid. Prior to that she represented victims of domestic violence in peace and protective order proceedings. She is active in the local bar, having served as president and president-elect, and as a member of the scholarship committee.. Alycia is a proud midwesterner, born and raised in Indiana and having attended Kenyon College in Ohio. After graduating from the Washington College of Law at American University in 2009, she and her husband moved to St. Mary’s County. She is happy to call Southern Maryland her home because she believes that the values of this community in many ways match those that she was raised with: family as a priority, a slower pace of life, and a love of the outdoors. She and her family enjoy hiking at local parks and attending the River Concert Series and events on Leonardtown Square.
