It is my goal to always give my clients undivided, personalized attention and care to each concern. I aim to deeply understand the circumstances of your company's situation to work towards the most effective, practical resolution.. I'm passionately interested in employment law because it is so much broader than just contracts and production. It's a diverse subject of paperwork and personalities, and the many ways that those can go so very wrong or so very right. For that reason, I am passionate about impacting the employer-employee relationship-- a relationship that I believe to be among the most important relationships a person or entity can maintain.. Prior to becoming a licensed attorney, I completed labor and employment clerkships in Cincinnati, Northern Kentucky, and Lexington. While a student at the University of Kentucky College of Law, I was a member of the Trial Advocacy Board and served on the Executive Board of the LGBTQ Interests Group. I have successfully completed Trial Skills Training provided by the Kentucky Access to Justice Commission.
In my efforts to protect the rights of consumers, I have successfully represented disenfranchised consumers against corporate wrongdoers in elder/nursing home abuse, medical malpractice, trucking accidents, wrongful death and product liability cases. I have served as counsel in numerous class actions against such Goliaths as Allstate Insurance Co., Tenet Healthcare, Medtronics, Beverly Enterprises, Countrywide Home Loans, Sony, Sun Healthcare Corp. and other corporations that put profits before people. Additionally, I have served as lead counsel in more than 2,500 elder and/or dependent adult abuse cases.
I'm inspired by helping our clients resolve financial challenges they encounter. After analyzing the situation, we work together to consider the options and potential outcomes, then work on getting results. The flexibility exists for clients to be as "hands-on" as they want to be, taking cost considerations into account.. In my spare time, I'm active in Lexington's evolving arts community and I run and cycle to stay fit.
I was born and raised here in Lexington, KY. After graduating from Bryan Station High School, I went on to attend Brigham Young University (BYU) and majored in Spanish. While at BYU, I suspended my studies for two years to serve a church mission in Argentina. Serving in Argentina blessed me with fluency in Spanish and a desire to serve other people. After graduating from BYU, I attended the University of Kentucky College of attending Law School, I worked at the UK Legal Clinic, served on the Honor Council and participated in other student driven clubs to help serve the community. I graduated from the UK College of Law in May 2007 and was admitted to the Kentucky Bar in October being admitted to practice law, my main focus has been on criminal defense, including traffic matters, DUI's, misdemeanors and felonies. Though my office is located in Lexington, KY, I have traveled and practiced in all surrounding Central Kentucky counties and several others throughout the state. If you have a case, we will travel! I was also admitted to practice in the U.S. Federal District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky in January 2012. Outside of my legal practice, I am have been married for 14 years and have 6 children. We live in Scott County and are active in school, sports and scouting. We love Kentucky and are happy to live and work here.
I want to represent honest, hard-working individuals and families who have been damaged by the negligent or intentional wrongdoing of others. My experience has mainly been in personal injury and accident cases, employment law including discrimination, whistleblower and wages and overtime cases, insurance claims and cases and Kentucky workers compensation cases. Although Kentucky does not recognize any areas of legal specialty, I know these areas the best, they often overlap and interrrelate in a particular case and it is an advantage to have a lawyer who can cover all these bases. I invite you to contact to visit my website and contact my office.. I am also required by Kentucky law to tell you that THIS IS AN ADVERTISEMENT.
I know that bankruptcy is usually a last resort. I understand that no one really wants to file. My job is to make the process as smooth and pleasant as possible for my clients. From the initial consultation to the discharge, I strive to take the complicated issues my clients bring to the table, sort them into managable levels, and move them forward with a fresh start.. On a personal note, I am married to Matthew Bunch and we have two very active teens. I enjoy reading, cooking and most outdoor activities such as hiking and whitewater rafting.
I have seen many debtor/creditor dispute situations over my 30-plus year career. It has been my passion to work with my client contacts, and I have learned about many different industries as part of that process. It is important to talk face to face with clients, to dig down to the fundamentals, and to work together to create a persuasive message to advocate for their interests. There are often many other parties involved to work with, as well as being persuasive in court when required. Over time, I have come to view this process as both an art and a science, and as a way to formulate the story that presents the best chance to meet my clients’ goals. “Everything we do falls on a spectrum of options, pros and cons, how it fits in to the big picture, negotiation, and risk analysis. I mostly see lots of gray and multiple choices of how to proceed, usually not a simple black and white answer. It is very important to me to make sure the clients get the benefit of what I see so they can make the best choices for themselves.”. I started at a larger firm where I was an associate and later partner, for 17 years. I began as a young lawyer doing bank work, but my heart grew to be more passionate about working on the debtor side of the table, trying to save businesses, or wind them down in the best way possible. “The early years of my practice are invaluable to me, because I got to both write and argue so many motions in different courts across the Commonwealth, and learned to think about what the banks are looking for in a situation. I learned a lot of law in the process. As a debtor or committee lawyer, being able to understand and work with the other parties is an absolute necessity.” I believe in always trying to resolve issues consensually, while simultaneously preparing to go argue the matter in court if necessary. After 17 years, in 2003, I left to start my own firm, and it has been a true learning experience. As a small business owner myself, I have gained an unbelievable amount of insight that big-firm lawyers just don't have.. Outside of the office, I enjoy working in the yard, traveling, reading, and spending quality R&R time with my husband and grown children. I'm currently working on some writing in the hopes of soon going on the road to teach and help others with all that I have learned the hard way. I'm passionate about helping our retirees and our young families figure out how to strengthen their personal finances in our current tough economic times, as well as all the looming governmental debt burdens which I foresee as a ticking bomb. Unfortunately, I have seen first hand how ugly bad debt situations can be.
I have dedicated my career to helping the legal needs of the disadvantaged. I am academically and professionally involved in the Bar. I focus on New Deal legislation and subscribe to President Franklin D. Roosevelt's declaration that "Necessitous men are not free men." Many American employees are unable to provide for their families due to corporations terminating them without just cause. Similarly, many workers who are deprived of living wages are unable to be free. So, I represent hard working people that have fell victim to corporate greed.

I didn't come up with a silver spoon and always considered it my duty to help others rather than just cash in. I've been blessed that I found my calling so early and was given opportunities from mentors to start handling serious matters early in my career. This has led to my experience in death penalty cases, serious sexual offenses, robbery, burglary, trafficking, assault, and financial crimes. I teach defense methods annually to other attorneys including sessions on litigating mental health, constitutional death penalty claims, and jury selection. Being an aggressive advocate is a joy to me and I appreciate the opportunity to stand between the government and my clients.. I have been married for eleven years and my wife is a photographer. Estate planning is one of the nicest things you can do for your family. It tells your family and the court system how you want your assets distributed upon your death. Be mindful that if you do not have an estate plan, even a simple will, your assets will be dispersed and the legal affairs of your estate will be resolved solely based upon Kentucky law. A well thought-out plan will not only attend to your legal needs, but will also address your personal concerns and goals.. Estate planning isn’t only for people with established families, a defined amount of wealth, or certain type of assets. Anyone with young children can have as much or more at stake if their estate plan does not provide for the care or protection of their children. For the single person or couple with complex tax planning needs, the urgency of formulating an effective estate plan may seem much more evident.. My practice is concentrated in the areas of estate planning, business succession planning and asset protection. In developing an estate plan, I listen to you. Your goals and objectives, whether it be equalizing assets among children, transferring a business, or minimizing taxes, are my primary concern. My intent is to gain a full understanding of your particular requirements and desires. Appreciating the family dynamic is imperative to successful planning.. When planning an estate, I include considerations of lifetime gifting (and the Federal gift tax), incapacity, special needs planning, and protection of assets during my clients’ lifetime, as well as end of life decisions involving living wills and other advance directives, so that the value of their assets and the wealth they have accumulated in their estate will be available for their benefit and the benefit of their family and loved ones.. What I enjoy most about estate planning and my area of practice is the client interaction. I am dedicated to each client I represent. By providing a comprehensive approach to the client's planning situation, I strive to ensure a mutual understanding, to maintain direct contact, and to obtain the results desired by my client.. Abe Mashni is the founding attorney of Mashni Law, PLLC. He focuses his entire practice on defending those accused of violating state and federal criminal laws, students and faculty accused of violating university code of conduct rules, and licensed professionals accused of misconduct.. Born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky, I knew I wanted to be a lawyer from a young age. I attended Millcreek Elementary, Lexington Traditional Middle School, and Tates Creek High School. Upon graduating high school, I went to the University of Kentucky, where I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. I earned a Juris Doctorate from the University of Kentucky College of Law and subsequently passed the Kentucky Bar exam in 2013.. Determined to get into the courtroom as fast as possible, I applied for and was granted a limited practitioner’s license by the Kentucky Supreme Court. While some lawyers go their entire career without trying a case before a jury, I did just that, while still in law school by representing the Commonwealth of Kentucky prosecuting a felony case in Fayette Circuit Court. In addition, I successfully argued several hearings on behalf of the Fayette County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. With that intimate knowledge, I understand how prosecutors and law enforcement agencies develop and prosecute criminal cases.. After graduating law school, I began working for Fayette Circuit Judge Kimberly Bunnell as a staff attorney. In this capacity, I gained invaluable insight from the Court’s perspective and learned about the inner workings of a complicated court system.. In 2014, I joined a Lexington law firm. At first my practice was diverse handling criminal defense, personal injury, and family law litigation. After time, I discovered my true passion was defending individuals accused of crimes and misconduct. In 2019, Abe earned partnership stake in the firm.. In 2022, I founded Mashni Law and the mission is clear - to defend the innocent, seek mercy for those who have made mistakes, and protect my clients’ rights by ensuring they are treated in accordance with the standards and principles of justice. Legal issues don’t always arise between 9-5 on weekdays. That’s why I offer individualized attention to detail, concierge-level support, and most importantly a dedication to achieving results.. I have successfully tried several cases to jury. My jury trial experience includes federal drug trafficking and firearms, state felony crimes, state misdemeanor crimes, DUIs, and personal injury.. Regardless of the allegations, every single one of my clients are people first and foremost. Real people. People that have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, sons, or daughters that love them dearly. When agreeing to represent someone, I understands the disastrous effects a criminal conviction can have on your career, relationships, reputation, and most importantly, freedom. I welcome the challenge each case presents, take pride in the trust my clients place in me, and aggressively fight for my clients in courts across Kentucky. That’s why I promise all my clients the following:. 1. I’m going to be available. I gives every client my cell phone. Law enforcement doesn’t just work Monday through Friday between 9-5. Neither do I.. 2. I’m going to give you 100%. While I can’t guarantee a particular outcome, I can guarantee attention to detail and effort while zealously advocating for my clients.. 3. I’m going to be honest. Whether it’s giving great news or bad news, I’m always going to give you straight answers..
