Since becoming an attorney in 2005, my life has been impacted by the family laws of this state. My marriage resulted in divorce, and my ex-husband and I share true joint custody of our daughter. I know, first-hand, the intricacies of these relationships and the effect that divorce can have on a family's emotional and financial well-being.. So, while my desire to be an attorney grew out of academic lessons and idealistic ideas, my reason for practicing law – family law – is much more basic: I help people get through the "murky details" so that they can get to the "living life" part.. Sara’s professional experience is focused primarily in domestic and civil litigation; her volunteer work includes clerking at the American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas where she assisted the attorneys responsible for the victory in the ACLU’s challenge of Arkansas Act 1; and, researched, drafted, and prepared responses to proposed bills during the 2011 legislative session on behalf of the ACLU. Sara’s time at the ACLU has largely shaped her belief that everyone is entitled to diligent and competent advocacy when faced with injustice.
