After retiring from state service, Mr. Mahaney served over five years as a civilian police advisor for the U.S. State Department in Kosovo, Jordan, and Iraq. Mr. Mahaney served 18 months in Iraq as the executive officer for the U.S. police advisory mission (2005 - 2006)..
