I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. I married Peter Prashad in 1995. I have a step-daughter and two beautiful granddaughters who are 8 and 2.. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery, and my Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, AL. I received my license to practice law in Alabama in 2002.. During law school, I clerked for a firm in Tuscaloosa and after becoming licensed, I practiced with that firm as an associate for two years. In 2004 I returned home to Montgomery and opened up my own practice. My practice has always centered around the area of family law. In 2004 I volunteered at the Family Sunshine Center assisting women who were victims of domestic violence and was recognized as volunteer of the year.
