My name is Rebecca, but those close to me call me Becca! I grew up in Camden, far from interstates, malls, or civilization, sustained on sports and church. Since the fourth grade, I’ve known I’d be a lawyer. It’s a calling, not simply a job to me. It’s been my plan so long I can’t even remember how it started!. My roots in my Methodist church are strong – surviving going away to college (Henderson), law school (Bowen), career and family. My time with Ozark Mission Project accidentally shaped the lawyer I was to become – my first summer as a chaperone I saw a baby – two years old, maybe – locked outside with the goats all day long. I reported it and the next day the goats, baby, fence, everything was gone. The results of that report are unknown; but my fate was cemented: giving a voice to the voice-less among us – children, criminal defendants, people with no financial access to justice.. Eight years I spent as a public defender, representing the least among us, and protecting our American values; and, now at Lion Legal Services where I provide, day in and day out, the access to civil and domestic justice Arkansans so desperately need. Hello, I’m Amanda! I am a Central Arkansas native with roots in the Delta and Northeast Arkansas. I love being an Arkansan, and travel is a passion of mine.. After graduating from Pulaski Academy in Little Rock I explored new areas of the country and the world. While attending Vanderbilt for undergrad and then University of Georgia for Law School, I studied abroad in Germany and China. Since graduation I’ve made multiple international trips, most recently to Vietnam. I love adventures but Arkansas will always be home.. Since law school I’ve focused my career on community service. Not long after graduation I started as an Equal Justice Works Legal Fellow for Legal Aid of Arkansas in the Delta office. Legal Aid provided the opportunity to engage with the community beyond the courtroom and to travel extensively around the state for various hearings and legal clinics. After my fellowship and a brief practice in Memphis, I moved to Fayetteville in Northwest Arkansas to work as a Public Defender for Washington County.. Despite four rewarding years in Fayetteville, I accepted a position at the Pulaski County Attorney’s office to be closer to family. It's great to be back home in Central Arkansas!. Brandon grew up in Clarksville, Arkansas, where he learned the most fundamental parts of lawyering: how to solve problems, work smart, and work hard. He also learned the values of respect and trust instilled in Arkansans and holds those values in high regard today.Brandon’s first job was washing dishes at a local restaurant in junior high. Every day, he finished football practice at 4:30 and went straight to work washing dishes that had piled up between lunch and the start of the dinner shift. His first few weeks as a working kid were (understandably) dreaded, but it was at this job where Brandon learned some valuable lessons: Showing up is half the battle; Work can be messy but rewarding, and never live in a house without a dishwasher.. Brandon’s first attempt a solving a complex problem came at the age of 15 with the purchase of a truck that would be his ride when he turned 16. There was just one problem with the truck: the engine did not run. Brandon didn’t let that deter him; that evening he purchased all the parts needed to rebuild the engine. That night, Brandon’s dad asked him if he was ready to build the truck; Brandon replied with a resounding “YES!” His father then put a Chilton’s manual on the table with all the newly purchased parts and told Brandon, “I’ll be back to check on you in a little bit.” It took him all night, and more than a few curse words, but Brandon was able to have the truck up and running before he turned 16. This exercise taught Brandon that if you keep at it (and swear enough) you can figure anything out.. The skills from a small town in Arkansas helped Brandon better understand what it takes to be a lawyer and run a business. He received his Bachelor’s in Business from Arkansas Tech University, his Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, and his law degree from Bowen School of Law.. It turns out, that getting all those degrees was the easy part! Starting a business and balancing that business with a family is an entirely different challenge. Brandon and his wife Jessica have their hands full with 4 kids: Thomas, Andrew, Betty, and Lyla. The boys are sports fanatics that prefer watching ESPN classics over the Cartoon Network on Saturday mornings. Betty’s favorite pastime is making friends and working a room until all eyes are on her. Betty wakes up with the biggest smile on her face every morning, which is only rivaled by the smile on Brandon’s face when he talks about her. And then there’s Lyla, the baby who very much knows what she can get away with. Lyla is the fiercest and most independent of them all, and it is Brandon’s hope that she stays that way forever. Lyla’s interests include doing everything her older sister Betty does and refusing to go to bed at night.. Brandon is proud of the life he has built and is constantly challenging himself to do better. It is this growth mindset that is the driving force behind wh Law, and what distinguishes Brandon from many other lawyers and business owners.
