I have been in private practice in Thurston County, Washington since 1996.  My practice is primarily focused on family law cases.  I was previously certified as a Guardian ad Litem for minor children by the Thurston County Superior Court.  I also served as an adjunct professor at South Puget Sound Community College for ten years, teaching the family law (domestic relations) course.  In addition to working as an attorney in private practice, I serve as a Pro Tem Judge/Court Commissioner for Thurston County Superior Court.

I am General Counsel and Director of Government Affairs for Employment Law for the Association of Washington Business (AWB).  Prior to joining AWB I was in the practice of law for 22 years.

I am an Olympia native and Capital High School graduate.  I have practiced law in Olympia since graduating from Lewis and Clark law school in 1996.  In law school, I focused on land use, environmental, real property and contract law.. I am also Vice-President of the Board for Harlequin Productions and have been a volunteer and sometime assistant coach for the Capital High School speech and debate team.. My work team includes my principal land use paralegal, Doreen Milward, who was trained in land use by Sandy Mackie, of Owens Davies Mackie, who was the premier land use attorney in southwest Washington until departure from the firm.

I am a second generation attorney.  My mother also practiced law.  I attended University of Washington and I remain an avid fan of the Dawgs, but I have served clients with Coug attachments and that has always worked out fine.  I love the Seahawks, the Mariners and the 49ers.. I graduated magna cum laude and phi beta kappa, from Wellesley College with a B.A. in Geology and received her J.D. from Lewis and Clark Law School (formerly Northwestern School of Law at Lewis and Clark College). I am an active member of the Washington State Bar, and an inactive member of the California State Bar.. I have significant commercial and bankruptcy experience. I spent two years as an office manager/firm administrator at a small law firm and more than two years as a vendor contract manager for Western Institutional Review Board, Inc.. I spent the year and a half after I passed the bar in Washington State as an attorney/law clerk for a Chapter 7 trustee where I learned about a wide variety of bankruptcy matters.  In June 2017, I opened Deschutes Law Group in order to assist small businesses and personal clients with commercial and bankruptcy matters.
