I’ve been a consumer bankruptcy lawyer since 2000, helping people get out of debt in Washington, Oregon and Arizona. I am the managing attorney of Northwest Debt Relief Law Firm. We have bankruptcy law offices in both Vancouver, Tacoma and Seattle, Washington and in both Portland and Salem, Oregon. We recently opened an additional office to serve Phoenix, Arizona.. I grew up in Washington, D.C. but was lucky enough to move to the Pacific Northwest in 1995. I truly enjoy teaching and helping people. After college, I taught seventh grade science to children in a low-income area of Los Angeles. It was difficult but incredibly satisfying. I wanted the same experience as an attorney. And while what I do now is also tough--because corporations (the bad ones) go to great lengths and expend a lot of money to deny or cover up their wrongs--every effort is worth the satisfaction of securing some sense of justice for my clients.. But I am only the person I am today because of the tremendous support I receive from my family and friends. I could not effectively represent my clients without being able to empathize with them over the often horrific losses they have suffered. And realizing how devastated I would be if the actions of another led to great harm to my wife, son, daughter, brother, sister or parents, well, it helps me greatly when battling for my clients' rights.
I started my criminal defense legal practice in Phoenix under the auspices of the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office. I now apply that knowledge as a criminal defense attorney for the firm.. Experience. I have tried various cases from simple drug crimes to more serious violent crimes and sex crimes. With the priceless knowledge acquired from the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, I soon realized that my skills and efforts were being underutilized and were meant to better serve the public in criminal defense.. Here I quickly rose to become the top defensive litigator in the law firm.. The Feldman Law Firm, PLLC. I started my career as a Maricopa County Deputy Public Defender over two decades ago. I have always only been a criminal defense trial lawyer up until the beginning of 2021. In January I joined the City of Phoenix Public Defender's Office as their new Assistant Director.. My devotion to the practice of criminal law has been driven by my belief that there is good in everyone. I try to spend time looking at my client holistically and seeing past the immediate charges to try to get the bigger picture as to what is driving them to wind up afoul of our criminal justice system.. As Assistant Director I am still in the criminal defense fight, though now I'm representing our office fighting for what our attorneys need to best represent their clients. The fact that I can reflect back over 20 years as a trial lawyer and know that I had a positive impact on hundreds of lives (even more if you count the family and friends of those I helped) fulfills me. I'm grateful for the opportunity I had to represent so many people who trusted me with their freedom.

I not only help my clients achieve fair and full compensation for catastrophic injury and wrongful death claims, but I also try to transform those tragedies into constructive change to prevent similar disasters in the future. That is because I believe as a lawyer it is important to be a positive influence in my community. So my work doesn’t start with a lawsuit any more than it ends with a settlement or verdict.. Catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful death can impact the whole structure of a client’s life, not just finances. I help people who have suffered unthinkable tragedy, but my work goes well beyond financial compensation. I feel a social obligation to do what I can to help ensure preventable injuries and death aren’t recurring tragedies; that work is not limited to the courtroom.. With the support of a large, full service firm with the resources to tackle the most complex and difficult cases for those who have been injured due to the negligence of others, I strive to keep the human perspective in the forefront of my work.. Service should always be at the forefront of a lawyer’s thoughts. To me, a lawyer means advocate, counselor, advisor, and a positive force for needed change.

I lost my father-in-law to mesothelioma in 2004. I witnessed first-hand the terrible toll this disease took on his body, mind and spirit. I understand what a gut-wrenching ordeal it is for the family. My goal is getting clients the best care possible as quickly as possible, and securing rightful compensation for the financial burdens and suffering. — Michael Throneberry, attorney at law
I look at the practice of law as a chance to advocate for people who are struggling through difficult and upsetting litigation or simply haven't received a fair shake. This has been my philosophy since I became an attorney in December 1989, and it has stayed with me for over three decades in multiple legal arenas, including criminal, family, and juvenile court—as well as appellate practice.. I enjoy a number of personal activities, too, that keep me happy and well-balanced. These include sports, music performance, hiking, reading, and writing. I am also the proud grandfather of five little ones. I look forward to watching them change our world for the better.
