Kevin began his career as a firefighter with a busy ladder company in the Corona/Elmhurst section of the City. Over the years he worked his way up through the ranks becoming first a Lieutenant and then a Captain. In New York City, being a Captain is not just an administrative job and he was expected to lead his firefighters into burning buildings. Over the years he was cited seven times for bravery and initiative and was on the scene of many disasters ranging from the World Trade Center bombing in 1993 to the infamous Happy Land fire which claimed the lives of 87 people.. In 1992 Kevin received his Juris Doctorate from St. Johns University after attending the evening law school program while still working full time for the FDNY..
