Scott Ashby grew up on a farm in Quincy, Washington and has always valued his familial relationships. Growing up, he enjoyed spending time with his family, growing his relationships and loved competition. He found an outlet for that in sports. He was never a great athlete, but for everyone who knows him, he loves to win—and hates to lose! As he grew older, his competitive nature extended to school and then his career.. After graduating from Central Washington University and then Cornell Law School, He was recruited by big law firms to work for big businesses. For 17 years he worked in a firm with more than 1,500 attorneys in offices around the world. He was a high-stakes litigator, and he sued big businesses on behalf of other big businesses so that shareholders could have more profit. He was exceptional at it. But he felt more and more dissatisfied because he wasn’t really helping people. Because of that, he left a comfortable position at the very large firm and eventually opened his own firm so that he could help people.. Family has always been important to him, so he focused on helping families. He has been married for almost 36 years and has six children and twelve grandchildren. When he opened his own firm, he started helping people who were going through the toughest times in their lives—divorce and child custody battles--and he developed an approach that was different than most attorneys. In his firm he dedicated himself to look to his clients’ future, not just their past.. The skills he developed as a high-stakes business litigator he adapted to his family law strategies. With his forward-looking approach, divorce, separation or child custody proceedings can be the beginning of a brighter, more fulfilling future. Instead of taking a cookie-cutter, one-size-fits-all approach to your family law matter like most attorneys, Ashby Law carefully considers your situation, provides options, and works with you to plan and execute a strategy to help you on your way to a better and brighter future.. Even though your family will change, Ashby Law can help conduct your divorce or custody dispute so that your family can continue, so that your child can comfortably invite both of you to his/her wedding, and so that you can be a part of your grandchildren’s lives. By taking a healthy approach, you can continue to be a good example to your children.. Every case is different, but to Ashby Law, it is also personal. Ashby Law can help plan and conduct your case so that your future will be better, brighter, and complete.. Reported Cases: Reynolds & Reynolds Co. v. Universal Forms, Labels & Sys., Inc., 965 F. Supp. 1392 (C.D. Cal. 1997); In re Corporate & Leisure Event Productions, Inc., 351 B.R. 724, 726 (Bankr. D. Ariz. 2006); Braspetro Oil Services Co. v. MODEC (USA) Inc., 423 F. Garcia, CV-08-0911-PHX-FJM, 2008 WL 3200777 (D. Ariz. Aug. 6, 2008); Roosevelt Irr. Dist. v. Salt River Project Agr. Imp. & Power Dist., 810 F. Supp. 2d 929, 936 (D. Ariz. 2011) Cobiz Bank v. Grace Capital, L.L.C., 1 CA-CV 10-0826, 2012 WL 587031 (Ariz. Ct. App. Feb. 23, 2012)
Personally, I am married and have two college aged children I raised here in the Tri-Cities.. I support Habitat for Humanity and Legal Aid because both organizations help individuals and families take steps to create a better future.
Originally from the Seattle area, I relocated to Tri-Cities 2 years ago and joined Cowan Moore law firm. In Seattle, I focussed my practice in Residential law working with Condominium and Homeowner Associations on their corporate governance, general legal issues, and assessment recovery. With Cowan Moore, I have expanded my practice to additional civil practice areas, to include probate and estate planning, business, contracts, and entity formation. I represent clients in Family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and child support. My legal philosophy is to provide practical legal advice and solutions, minimize risk and exposure, and to resolve legal issues as cost effectively as possible.

Katherine Sierra-Kelly has represented clients with issues surrounding family law. She has also worked extensively as a Guardian Ad Litem representing the interests of children in dissolution matters as well as adults who may be incapacitated. Her goal is to work closely with her clients and help them through this difficult time because she understands what it’s like to be lost in a process you know nothing about and have to rely on someone else for guidance. She understands that these types of proceedings are often emotionally charged and deal with some of the most precious things anyone can focus on, one’s children. She focuses on each individual’s unique needs and recognizes that there is no “one size fits all” approach. Katherine seeks to find amicable resolutions for her clients whenever possible and attempts to minimize conflict and reduce costs for her clients while obtaining the best possible outcome. However, she also believes in holding those accountable when they are dishonest or seek to take advantage of her clients.. Katherine Sierra-Kelly was born into a military family and settled in the Tri-City area in 1994. She is a graduate of Upper Columbia Academy, and Walla Walla University where she graduated cum laude in 2003 with a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature. She spent a year with Americorp where she helped needy families in Seattle before attending Seattle University’s School of Law where she graduated in 2007 with her Juris Doctorate.. I’m a Tri-Cities native, having graduated from Hanford High School. In 2009, I graduated from the University of Washington after having to witness entirely too many losing football seasons. At the University of Washington, I majored in English and will never let you forget it. I then went on to attend the University of Illinois School of Law in Urbana-Champaign.. After earning my law degree, I decided to return to the Pacific Northwest to be closer to my family. I immediately began my legal career at the Benton County Office of Public Defense. I have always been exclusively interested in and committed to the practice of criminal law. While at the Office of Public Defense, I spent time in District Court handling misdemeanors and gross misdemeanors for indigent clients. After spending a year and a half with the Office of Public Defense, I was hired as an Associate at Mendoza & Johnson, where I expanded from misdemeanors to felony charges and became federally licensed in the Eastern District of Washington.. In 2015, I partnered with Scott Johnson to form the Johnson & Orr Law Firm, where we spent weeks fighting over the logo.. In private practice, I quickly realized that often what separates a good attorney is not necessarily legal prowess, but communication. Too many attorneys are unable or simply unwilling to allow for transparency, to not only make decisions, but the reasoning behind those decisions. These are difficult choices to make; one that requires a collaborative effort with our clients. It is easy to forget that most everyone seeking legal counsel is enduring one of the most trying times of their life, but it shapes everything. I have always been passionate about my role as an advocate for my clients, and that doesn’t exist in a vacuum at the courthouse.. Outside of my private practice, I hold a position on the Benton & Franklin County Adult Drug Court. This has provided me an opportunity to secure close ties to the treatment community, while also allowing me to work towards criminal justice reform. I will unabashedly advocate for any all reforms to our justice system and I rarely will bite my tongue about it. I like to believe that advocacy helps guide me in my individual relationships with my client. In addition to this position, I have helped coach the Richland High School Mock-Trial team for the last two years in a futile effort to appear youthful.. I pride myself on honest, clear communication that helps my clients find empowerment by understanding their options. Clients can look forward to accessible representation, vigorous preparation, and effective resolutions. Whether you have been accused of committing a misdemeanor or felony, Johnson & Orr provides skilled representation in a wide variety of criminal law matters.

There are always options in cases. I'll give you the information you need to choose among them. Whether you are dealing with a custody dispute or dividing property in a divorce, I will help you put your life back on track.. After earning my diplomas I attended the University of Idaho College of Law, graduating in the top 1/3 of my class. During my time in law school I interned for the Kennewick City Attorney's Office performing the duties of an Assistant City Attorney. While interning I received several favorable jury verdicts on behalf of the City.. I spent five years after law school as an assistant city prosecutor for several of the local jurisdictions around Tri-Cities. Now, in 2021 I have taken all that knowledge gained to serve my clients in criminal defense proceedings, as well as personal injury cases. If you have old criminal convictions that are holding you back in life, a recent change in our state law may make you eligible to have those removed from your record. If you are facing a criminal charge, have been injured in accident, or are looking to put your past behind you, please call for a consult today.
I love what I do. I honor my position in our legal system and the opportunity to advocate for people. Often times I see people at their worst. Helping them while they are down and getting results they appreciate is why I love what I do. I look forward to the challenges presented in every case.
I have 25 years of experience in the area of criminal and immigration law. I was a criminal prosecutor for 16 years prior to becoming a criminal defense attorney. I also hold a part time postition as the Director of Public Defense for the City of Pasco.
