Lewis, 507 F.2d 546 (10th Cir. 1974), which respectively held “Moreover, one who aids and abets a fraudulent scheme may be held accountable even though his assistance consists of mere silence or inaction” (p.741); and while favorably citing the language of Kerbs on aiding and abetting, found that the short term promissory note delivered in Zabriskie was a “security” that was not exempt from registration under the Securities Act, and that the issuance of the promissory note constituted a sale or disposition of a security in violation of 15 U.S.C. 78(c)(14) of the Securities Act.. Leonard served in the U.S. Military during 1961 and 1962 as a member of the Utah National Guard, which was called to active duty during the “Berlin Crisis,” when the Berlin Wall was built overnight on August 13, 1961.  He was honorably discharged in 1962.. Mr. Cannon teaches commercial law as an adjunct professor of law at the S. J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah. He is the former chair of the firm’s Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights Section.

Keil is an attorney with a wide range of legal experience gained from working in a broad area of law. Kate Conyers is a trial attorney at Conyers & Nix PC. In the past ten years, she has successfully handled over a thousand criminal defense and DUI cases—from simple misdemeanors such as drug possession and domestic violence to serious felonies such as aggravated assault, auto theft, drug distribution, robbery, and sex offenses. Before joining private practice, Ms. Conyers served as a public defender at Salt Lake Legal Defenders.Ms. Conyers is the Immediate Past President of the Women Lawyers of Utah (WLU) and she serves on the boards of the Salt Lake County Bar Association, Utah Center for Legal Inclusion, YWCA of Utah, and Rocky Mountain Innocence Center. She also serves as a Small Claims Judge Pro Tempore and as a mentor to young lawyers through the Utah State Bar. She was awarded the Sandra Day O'Connor Award for Professional Service and the Young Lawyer of the Year Award by the Utah State Bar. Karl spent several years educating the public about intellectual property law issues in two regular newspaper columns for over a decade and was the author of numerous IP law articles in several different nationally distributed engineering magazines.  He specializes in all aspects of intellectual property law and related litigation, and is an AV-rated attorney (top rating).. Karl has handled many successful IP litigations involving patent enforcement and trademark enforcement, as well as successful litigation defense work against unfounded or overbroad patent and trademark enforcement actions. He handles all varieties of trademark work including product configuration marks, and renders consultation and opinions regarding patent validity, infringement and enforceability, patent viability, trademark viability, and other IP matters.

Justin is a Utah native. He graduated from the University of Utah Law School. While attending school, Justin was a member of the Jessup Moot Court team, the Counter-Terrorism Simulation Design Team, and a Student Director of the Pro Bono Initiative. During school, Justin volunteered at free legal clinics to help people work through their legal troubles. He also worked at a criminal defense firm where he learned to fiercely defend his clients’ constitutional rights.. After graduation, Justin worked as a criminal defense attorney and eventually moved on to become a city prosecutor. He fell in love with representing plaintiffs and found his way to personal injury work. Justin is a zealous advocate and aggressively fights for his clients. He enjoys guiding people through the complex legal system, litigating cases, and getting his clients what they deserve.. Justin is married and loves to spend time hanging out with his wife Kate. On Tuesday nights, you’ll probably see them at the local Megaplex for “cheap movie night.” He’s a big fan of rock climbing, camping, snowboarding, music making, movies, and fitness.
