I have over 37 years years experience practicing in Federal and State Courts, handling everything from capital cases to misdemeanors.  I have argued cases successfully in the United Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals and the Washington Supreme Court.  I handled over 75 Felony jury trials.  I have succeeded in having various local ordinances declared unconstitutional.

I have been actively engaged in the practice of law in this legal community for 40 years.  My practice is principally commercial dispute resolution, through litigation, arbitration and mediation.  I have tried or arbitrated cases in Washington, California, Alaska, Hawaii, Texas, Florida, and have handled disputes for clients in the United Kingdom, China and Japan.  I have developed a sub-concentration on resolving disputes between lawyers regarding their law practices.  I served on the Foundation Board of Trustees for Western Washington University, I was a national representative for the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), and I am past president of the Columbia Tower Club.  I am a fourth generation Washingtonian, and proud to be a Seattle business practitioner.

I have a passion for real estate. And because of what I have learned pursuing that passion as an attorney and as a real estate broker, I believe there is room for improvement in the real estate industry. I tried to lead the way as a real estate broker - but apparently I was a little ahead of my time.. But my law practice continues to thrive. Today, it is sole focus. For more than a decade, I've worked to improve quality and reduce costs in the real estate business. These days that takes the form of FSBO or For Sale By Owner Sellers, and savvy buyers who use a lawyer instead of an agent to save a ton of money.. I am also still a traditional real estate attorney.  I am 100% committed to identifying, protecting, and advancing my clients' interests.  And I never, ever forget that sometimes an attorney is more expensive than the solution.  Where that's the case, I probably won't agree to represent you.  That's how I practice.

I focus my practice on all types of personal injury matters, including automobile collisions, wrongful death, brain injury and trip and falls.  I enjoy helping my clients navigate the legal system.  I am a proud trial attorney and part of the team at GLP Attorneys Burlington office.. I am a transplant from New York.  I attended undergraduate at University of Washington and graduated with a Political Science degree along with a Economics cert. After undergrad, I attended Law School in California. Upon graduation, I returned to the place I love, Seattle!  Today, I live in Seattle with my spouse, two daughters and our maltipoo, Emmitt. I have been a member of ILG since 2008 and a founding member of Market Realty, a full service residential and commercial real estate brokerage. I am a patent attorney, inventor, and entrepeneur. This gives me a valuable perspective regarding how to start a business and intellectual property! I have been developing a robotic fish since 2009, what I call my "fishBOAT" project. Fish are more efficient than propellers, but parts are bad! Traditional robotic fish are NOT efficient, because they have too many parts. This video tells how I learned of this problem, why and how I used a human-powered research craft to come up with an answer, and shows some of my prototypes. In a future video, I'll discuss markets for robotic fish. My day job is as a patent attorney at AEON Law, so the fishBOAT is patented and patent pending around the world. Benjamin Haslam was born in Surrey, England in 1978.  With an English father and American mother, he was naturalized as a U.S. citizen born overseas.  Growing up in a small English country village, he was an active member of the parish church, as both a choir boy and bell ringer, and also a keen cricketer and student.  Haslam moved to Connecticut in 1991, where he lived for 2 years, and acclimated to life in the United States. In 1993, he moved to Lynnwood, WA, and attended Meadowdale High School for the three years, as well as Edmonds Community College through the State’s Running Start program. Following graduation in 1996, he entered college at the age of 17 at the University of Washington..
