Melissa has been working in the area of family law since 2002. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Melissa worked as a legal assistant for a family law solo practice learning the basic procedures involved in a family law case. Continuing to develop her skills in this area of law, Melissa was promoted to paralegal and continued working in this position throughout college and during summer breaks from law school. During law school Melissa also worked part-time at an insurance defense firm. Over the years, Melissa learned the “ins and outs” of various Court processes, the nuances of working with different judges, and became very familiar with drafting pleadings, complex motions, discovery, and settlement agreements.. After graduating law school and being admitted to the Bar, Melissa successfully opened her own firm, The Law Office of Melissa S. Bowen in Gainesville, Georgia.  After working at a local family law firm for over eight years, Melissa joined Kessler and Solomiany, LLC in May of 2019.. Melissa’s passion for family law stems from her innate desire to help and seek justice for others, and particularly those who are going through a difficult time in their lives. I enjoy practicing family law (many lawyers don't).  I often present CLE seminars and always learn so much when I prepare my remarks.. I grew up in New Orleans (yes, I am a long suffering Saints fan whose suffering has ended) and have lived in Atlanta since I started law school at Emory in 1985.. What sets our firm apart from many, is how many resources we have to help you.  In addition to 13 lawyers who all specialize in family law, we have 15 staff members including paralegals, law clerks and others and we maintain close relationships with many forensic accountants, psychologists and private investigators to ensure we can meet our clients' needs on a moment's notice.

Going through a divorce myself gives me great insight into my client's emotions during this most difficult time.  I am a divorce litgator by trade.  However, I also teach divorce recovery at my church and encourage couples to reconcile if it can be done. I am a registered mediator and Guardian ad Litem (child's attorney) as well.  I fought for custody of my now 14 year old daugther, and have successfully co-parented with my child's mother for over a decade now.. I enjoy playing sports (basketball, soccer, and tennis) and am an avid reader.

Born and raised in Athens, Georgia, in 1968, Louis Tesser has been a trial attorney during his entire legal career. After graduating from Clark University in 1990, Mr. Tesser acquired a further graduate degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia in 1993. Mr. Tesser then earned his Juris Doctor at the College of William and Mary in 1996.Prior to working at Kessler & Solomiany, LLC, Mr. Tesser worked as a general trial attorney, then went on to a position as an Assistant District Attorney in Hall County, Georgia. Mr. Tesser has been with Kessler & Solomiany, LLC since 2002, and is a member of the Family Law Sections of the Atlanta Bar Association and the State Bar of Georgia. Mr. Tesser is the chairman of the DeKalb County Bar Association Family Law Division.Mr. Tesser became a partner in the firm in 2008.As a domestic relations attorney, Mr. Tesser has handled contentious and complex litigation involving division of property, custody, child support, alimony, domestic abuse, paternity, legitimation, and appeals, as well as trials, including several highly successful jury trials.
