Mike has been a practicing attorney in Kitsap County since 1978. His background has been in bankruptcy, real estate, business, guardianships and other civil matters. He is a former bankruptcy trustee and has represented bankruptcy trustees on contested matters. He represented a number of credit unions, primarily providing advice on collection, real estate, contract, negotiable instrument and bankruptcy cases.. Mike grew up in Tacoma, WA, and after completing high school at Bellermine, he served three years in the U.S. military including one year in Vietnam 1967-1968. Obtained a BA degree from Saint Martin's College and later attended Law School at Gonzaga University, graduating with a JD degree. Mike has been a partner/owner of several law firms, and has been a sole practictioner since 2013. Mike is married with three adult children, and three grandchildren. He enjoys volunteering with the Kiwanis Club of Bremerton, as well as hiking and traveling with his family whenever he gets a chance.. He has served as guardian ad litem and been appointed as attorney for alleged incapacitated individuals in Title 11 cases and minor settlement matters over the years. He has argued cases in the Washington Court of Appeals, and represented clients in Washington State Supreme Court matters, and before the Social Security Administration, the United States Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Washington, the Merit Systems Protection Board, the Office of Workers Compensation Programs (OWCP) and cases involving the Departments of Labor & Industries and Employment Securities.. He is a former member of Spokane Legal Services and the Washington State Trial Lawyers organization, and is a board member for several non-profit organizations, including Kitsap Legal Services. He has been a presenter at a number of Continuing Legal Education seminars dealing with Title 11 Guardianships, the interplay between Bankruptcy and Domestic Relations matters, Landlord Tenant topics, and Ethics. Mike recently celebrated his 37th year as an attorney.. Mike has served as an arbitrator on various legal cases including: leasing disputes, landlord tenant cases, contract claims, construction claims, personal injury (auto accident) cases and real estate disputed cases. One of his areas of practice includes sale of business closings where he acts as an independent sale of business escrow closing agent - he has handled 50 such matters. His major areas of emphasis in his practice are bankruptcy, Chapter 7 and 13 cases, representing debtors in objection to discharge adversary matters, and guardianship cases.

I was born and raised in Kitsap County and am now happy to be able to practice law in the courthouse around the corner from the home I grew up in.  I started out thinking I wanted to be an employment defense attorney but quickly found that I've got organizational skills and a temperament that is, I believe, helpful to my domestic relations clients, who are often stuck like a deer in headlights because their lives are in crisis.  I try to be no-nonsense and practical because it benefits my clients both emotionally and fiscally, but, when necessary, can muster what is necessary to deal with an antagonistic opposing party or opposing counsel.

I have been a practicing attorney for over eight years, first as a litigator in the Puget Sound area and currently as a government attorney with the U.S. Navy Office of General Counsel in San Diego. I hope to return to the Seattle area in the near future.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and after attending law school at the University of Notre Dame, I practiced in a large law firm in Chicago where I practiced in the commercial litigation and intellectual property sections.  During my time in Chicago, I was exposed to many different styles of attorneys.  What impressed me the most were those attorneys who not only knew the law very well, but also took the time to get to know their clients personally, and thus serve their best needs.. Since moving back to the Northwest, I have created a practice that has a reputation for quality service and affordability.  With every client that I meet, I want to establish a long term relationship.  I understand that choosing a lawyer is a difficult decision.  Clients want to feel comfortable and confident with who they choose, so that when new problems arise, they know they have someone that they can trust to advise them.  Although many of my clients come to me initially for a specific problem, I have developed relationships with them that have developed into years of representation for all of their needs.  If I do not practice in a particular area, I have a number of referrals to other local attorneys who can.

After graduating from the college, David served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corps. After several tours that took him to Iraq and other trouble spots, David was assigned as the Marine Corps Detachment Executive Officer on the USS Carl Vinson. After leaving active duty he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Seattle University School of Law. During law school, David joined a local Silverdale firm working as a prosecutor in municipal court. David then went to work for a growing firm in Seattle working primarily on construction litigation. But because he missed Kitsap County – he accepted an “in-house” position from one of his longtime clients, the City of Bremerton. In 2005, David formed his own firm. David’s practice ranges from complex civil litigation to residential evictions. He represents property owners, municipalities, businesses and individuals in real estate, construction, land use and other civil litigation. David is admitted to practice in all Washington Courts, Federal Court for the Western District of Washington and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has successfully tried and argued cases in all levels of Washington’s courts; from municipal court to the Washington Supreme Court. He lives in Bremerton with his kids. In his spare time, he builds and paddles kayaks, skis, runs and hikes.
