When I began to practice law in 1972 I never expected that the focus of my work would be the area of Domestic Relations. Time and many satisfied clients have proved this to be my area of concentration. While this is a very difficult time for most clients, we do our best to help them through this process in a positive way. Sometimes the best advice we can provide is an honest and complete appraisal of the client's situation. Promising unrealistic results or encouraging wasteful and spiteful litigation is not consistent with our firm philosophy. While marriages may end, families continue. We do not serve our clients if at the same time we injure their family.. Twenty years ago, with the help of two mental health professionals, I began a comprehensive divorce mediation business. Like many good ideas, the time was not right, and people were afraid of this new and unfamiliar process for resolving disputes.. Twenty years have passed and the time is now right. I have been providing mediation services to parties and their lawyers for the past two years. Approximately 1/3 of my practice now consists of mediation and arbitration services. The ability of parties and their attorneys to reach resolution when properly facilitated is astounding. More than 95% of the matters which have been submitted to me for mediation have resulted in the parties reaching an agreement which addresses their needs and interests.. In consultation with the parties? attorneys, I am able to design a process which will promote the likelihood of resolution. This process can be facilitative or evaluative or a combination of each. The goal is to encourage the parties to explore alternatives that allow them to successfully achieve their goals.. The mediation process allows for candor and creativity in an interest focused environment which provides safety and confidentiality. There is every reason to believe spouses can assist one another in achieving their goals if, at the same time, they are able to achieve their own goals.

Olivia focuses her practice on criminal defense and revocation of probation and extended supervision.Olivia was born and raised in Iowa but has since made Milwaukee her home. Olivia first moved to Wisconsin to study anthropology at Marquette University in 2013. While at Marquette, Olivia joined the pre-law scholars’ program. This program allowed her to begin law school during her senior year of undergrad. Olivia started law school at Marquette in 2016, graduated magna cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in anthropology in 2017, and finished law school in the top 8% of her graduating class in 2019.. While in law school, Olivia became very involved with the Marquette Volunteer Legal Clinic, which helped foster Olivia’s passion for helping the little guy. Following that passion to help the underdog, Olivia first interned in the Washington County District Attorney’s office, where she gained important insights into charging decisions and plea negotiations. From there, Olivia interned in the Milwaukee office of the State Public Defender. There, she realized her calling for helping those accused of crimes fight back against the powerful and oppressive forces of the prosecutors, police, and judges. While in law school, Olivia competed in Moot Court and was named the champion and best oral argument in the 2018 Jenkins Honors Moot Court competition. My first trial after graduating law school was a homicide case and we achieved a not guilty verdict. Since then, our firm has achieved innumerable dismissials and acquittals. In one very remarkable case, one of our clients confessed to a crime and pleaded guilty with another lawyer. After coming to us for a second opinion we were able to withdraw his guilty plea, go to trial, and convince a jury of his innocence despite the fact that he confessed his guilt to the police..
