Cassy's has a passion for representing the accused and fighting for the best outcomes in their cases, whether at or before trial or after a conviction through a direct appeal or postconviciton proceeding alleging ineffective assistance of counsel or illegal sentence or petitioning for sentence reconsideration.. Cassy believes everyone is entitled to highly competent legal representation at every stage of their case and that no one should have to face the system on their own.  Sadly, many attorneys make it impossible to retain qualified counsel because of staggeringly high fees.  Although the public defender system exists to provide counsel to those who cannot afford an attorney on their own, the unfortunate truth is that many who "make too much money" to qualify for court-appointed counsel are in no position to pay the outrageous hourly rates charged by many private defense attorneys, leaving them in the position of having to face the full force of the government and all its resources completely on their own.  This clearly puts them at a steep disadvantage and may lead them to accept plea deals they otherwise may not or to make mistakes throughout their case that cause worse outcomes.. While no attorney can ever guarantee a particular outcome in a particular case, in most cases, having representation yields better results than going it alone.  Cassy works with potential clients in a variety of ways to attempt to make representation possible for them by utilizing sliding payment scale, payment plans, flat rate, and low pay fee structures. Potential clients can book a free consultation at by clicking Potential Client Free Phone Consultation on the Schedule an Appointment page of the Zobel Law website.. Cassy received her B.S. in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 2000 and spent the next 15 years working in the contract management industry.  Though she always wanted to be a defense attorney, life had other plans for a while. She received her J.D. from the University of Colorado in 2018 after receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University in 2000.

I want my clients to know from the first time we speak how much I care about them and their case. I practice criminal defense because no one's life should be defined by their worst day, and because everyone has value and an important story to tell. Turning those values and that compassion into a zealous defense is at the core of the service Power Law provides.. I practice holistic criminal defense. This means that I not only strategically defend a client in the case they hire me for, but I will address any underlying concerns while we work together and set my clients up for success. I have extensive experience with cases involving mental health and substance use issues.. In addition to criminal defense, I am passionate about criminal justice policy reform and access to mental health, and I am involved in a number of organizations and projects to further those goals.

While I am not a native to Colorado. I love this state and consider it my home. I grew up in Kansas the daughter of farmer and a homemaker. Not withstanding all the Wizard of Oz jokes I have to hear-it was a pretty good way to grow-up, and a good way to learn a strong work ethic. I came to Colorado immediately after law school, only wanting to practice in this state that I always loved visiting and vacationing growing up.. I practiced criminal law exclusively my first three years. Handling thousands of cases from misdemeanors to felony murder. I gained a lot of trial experience during these years. I then turned my attention to family law and have handled both family law and criminal law cases since.. When I am not practicing law. I love all out-door activies such as running, skiing, hiking, and walking my dog!
