Stacey M. Barrus practices personal injury law in San Antonio and throughout South Texas where he fights for the rights of injury victims.  What sets Stacey apart from most other injury attorneys is his ability to understand the needs of his clients following the devastating effects of an accident.  His passion in fighting for injury victims is due in part to his own personal experiences in dealing with the tragic loss of several family members as a result of accidents caused by the negligence of other people.. "I understand what injury victims and their families are going through - the grief, pain, depression, stress, and mounting medical bills - I've been in their shoes to a certain extent.  And, while they seek me out to help them receive fair and adequate compensation for their injuries, they also appreciate having someone who can empathize with them.  Knowing that I'm out their aggressively and passionately fighting for their rights allows them to focus on getting better, and gives them some peace of mind," Stacey said.. Stacey likes to keep a more casual and relaxed environment at the Barrus Law Group than a traditional "uptight & stuffy" law firm environment.  He feels that it's nice for clients to be in an atmosphere that is calm, comfortable, and relaxed.

I have been a trial lawyer focusing on personal injury and workers compensation cases since the day I left law school back in 1986.  Although it is the goal to successfully resolve claims through settlement and mediation, some cases cannot be resolved so easily and litigation is necessary.  Clients who find themselves in litigation need a strong and experienced hand to go to court with confidence in the process and the outcome.. Although the bulk of my practice centers around motor vehicle accidents, I have successfully handled accident cases of many types involving boats, dog bites/attacks, slip, trip and fall cases, agricultural equipment, shootings, defective products and catastrophic construction failures.   Too many of these cases have involved fatalities and permanent injury and we strive to achieve justice while maintaining dignity and privacy for our clients.. As for the Workers Compensation arena, our goal is to ensure that clients are provided all the benefits to which they are entitled without alienating the employer.  Like the healing of the injury, the worker's compensation process can be painful and it always takes longer than you think.  Patience, perseverance and professionalism are what we will provide.

Three words are repeatedly used by clients to describe me -- down to Earth. When you contact my law firm, you will meet with me, the attorney who will handle your case from beginning to end. I can also come to you whether you are in the hospital or at your home. You will be given my cell phone number and e-mail address. We will make it our business to get to know you and what your specific needs are.. You will never be just a file number or a case to us. As challenging as this experience may be for you and your family, you can rely on us to give you the compassion, help and support you deserve. I not only have legal experience. I have life experience.. I am prepared to put my many years of legal experience, knowledge and courtroom skills to work for you. Your goals become our goals.. I am a lifelong resident of St. Louis, and grew up near the white water tower on East Grand Ave. I graduated from Rosati-Kain High School in the Central West End. After marrying my high school sweetheart and while raising a family, I attended the University of Missouri St. Louis (UMSL) and graduated Summa Cum Laude.. Since graduating from St. Louis University School of Law and receiving a Juris Doctor degree in 1992, I have been in private practice representing injured persons in Missouri, Illinois, and the Federal courts. It is the only type of law I have ever practiced or wanted to practice.. Paralegal Nichole Faust and I have worked together as a team for over 15 years. We get to know our clients on a personal basis and focus on their needs and goals. Our clients and their families have been injured physically and/or emotionally as a result of someone else's negligence. We treat clients with "small" cases the same as those with "big" cases. Cases are "big" to those going through them. Nichole and I never lose sight of that fact.. My trial experience began very early in my career. My first trial was before a St. Louis jury -- two weeks after passing the Missouri Bar Exam. From that day on, I have relished the challenge of convincing jurors to return verdicts in favor of my clients. I have never taken a case to trial without fully believing that my client deserved the compensation I requested from the jury or judge. An attorney who once argued against me in court stated that I was not a lawyer. He said rather that I was a "pit bull with jewelry." I took that as a compliment.. Over the years, there has been a trend toward taking a case to mediation before it is tried in court. For most of my clients, mediation has been a positive experience and oftentimes avoids the risk and stress of a trial for them. However, I want my clients to know that from the time I take their case, I have an eye toward taking it to trial if necessary. The cases in my firm belong to my clients, not anyone else. With guidance from me, the clients decide whether or not to accept a settlement or go to trial.. When away from work, I enjoy spending time with my husband of almost 40 years, my two daughters and seven (so far) grandkids. I am very involved in my Parish and community, love motorcycles, building/remodeling and scuba diving.

“A car accident can change your life. It changed mine and this is one of the main reasons I became a personal injury attorney. I can perfectly understand what you are going through because it happened to me. I was a victim of a rollover car accident back in college. This accident caused me permanent injuries, put me in the hospital for several days and left me with more than $50,000 in medical bills that I could not afford. Fortunately, I found a good personal injury lawyer who helped me through the process, got me good medical care, and inspired me to help others too.. So, empathy is the word that comes to my mind when treating each and every one of my clients. I’ll fight for your rights and you can rest assured you are in good hands. ” - Shannon J. Sagan. My interest in law began at the University of Central Florida. While a full time student, I worked for a prominent law firm that represented major theme parks and large automobile corporations. There, I learned invaluable defense strategies, ways of thinking from a defense point of view, and was taught how to help plan and prepare a case for trial.. After graduating, I moved back to my hometown of West Palm Beach and enrolled in law school. While attending law school I helped support myself by working as a paralegal under a long time friend and mentor, who has practiced law for over 40 years. I applied what I was taught in school to helping real life clients of the firm and assisted in negotiating hundreds of thousands of dollars in settlements for clients.. After graduating law school, I joined a small but well known law firm representing people who were seriously injured and in less than two years, became partner. In June 2008, I formed the Law Offices of Shannon J. Sagan, P.A. and since then I have exclusively represented injured clients. Before all this happened I had a car accident, and this was one of the reasons why I became a Personal injury lawyer, you can watch my story here:. My hobbies and interests include training in Muay Thai, live music events, classic car exhibits, traveling, and spending time with my family and friends.. I have been AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale-Hubble which is the highest possible rating for General Ethics Standards and Legal Ability. It is a significant rating accomplishment and a testament to the fact that a lawyer’s peers rank him or her at the highest level of professional excellence.
