I was born and raised in Anderson, Indiana, the son of a carpenter and a homemaker.  I attended Lapel High School in Lapel, Indiana and then went on to Indiana University and obtained a degree in Telecommunications and English.  During the summers between school I worked for my dad's construction company.  At IU, I worked toward my dream of being a TV broadcaster.  But somewhere on the way, Law became my calling.  In Law School at Valparaiso University, I developed a passion for criminal law when I interned with a criminal defense lawyer in Porter County.. After graduation from law school, I took my first job as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Daniel Heath of the Allen County Superior Court.  I then went to work for a criminal defense firm in Fort Wayne before starting my own firm along with others, in 2001.  Since then, Jeffrey Terrill and Albert Anzini, III have joined us.  We continue to defend the accused with passion.. I am happily married since 1999 and have three children who are my purpose in life.  I am a tortured Chicago Cubs fan as well, but love every minute of it.

I have been an attorney serving injured people throughout Indiana for more than 30 years.  Whether those injuries were caused by the carelessness of a medical provider, motor vehicle operator, land owner, dog owner or other negligent party, I have worked diligently to represent my clients' best interests.  Unfortunately, sometimes the careless acts of another resulted in a person's death; and though I could never adequately right such a wrong, it has been my humble honor to make a positive difference in the lives of the surviving spouses, parents and children who lost a loved one in the many wrongful death claims I have handled.. I also represent and serve as general counsel for a few small business clients, as well.  These representations have included buying and selling businesses, starting businesses, developing business practices and policies, maintaining business record books, dealing with basic Department of Labor matters, and business succession planning.. Through the aforementioned aspects of my practice, I have developed relationships that have led to my advising clients and preparing estate planning materials such as Wills, Living Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Healthcare Represestative documentation.. I have been married for 31 years to the same wonderful woman.  We have been blessed with a son who is currently in college at Marian University.  We enjoy watching sports and movies, and playing golf as a family.  We have lived in Hendricks County for 23 years.  I relocated my firm office from downtown Indianapolis to the Avon/Danville area in 2020.  I have been in practice with my current law partner, Terry Sorg, since 1998.. On a personal level, if I'm not working I can be found riding one of my several bicycles.  I average 200 miles per week in the summer and less in the winter but will still go out as long as it's not too slippery.. I belong to several bike clubs in the area that vary in distance in speed.  One of the groups is a racing group and another is a travel group.  With the second group I have ridden in California, South Dakota, Wyoming, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, New York, South Carolina, Virginia, Toronto and Montreal.  We are currently planning next year's ride.

I am an experienced attorney, admitted to the Illinois bar in 1976. I have argued cases before the U.S. Supreme Court and the Illinois Circuit Courts of Appeal.. I have dedicated my career to helping the average working person, representing hundreds of clients with serious credit problems with bankruptcy proceedings or other appropriate solutions to their difficulties. Prior to entering the legal profession in 1995, I was a union member, as well as an elected Steward and Committeeman for the Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers’ Union (OCAW) Local 4-16000 at the Ethyl Corporation Houston Plant in Houston, Texas from 1987 through 1991. My union experience in assisting the membership in employment matters, contract negotiations, and grievance proceedings sparked an interest which eventually led me to law school.. I earned both my Doctor of Jurisprudence (J.D.) and Master of Science (M.S.) in Geology degrees from the University of Tulsa, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1994. After moving to southern Indiana and obtaining licenses to practice law in both Indiana and Kentucky, I established a law practice with an emphasis in workers’ compensation, social security disability, and personal injury law.
