I have been a resident of New York and have lived in the Buffalo area since 1987.  I am proud to call this region home and enjoy the people who live here.  Practicing law has provided me with the opportunity to come into contact with people from all walks of life.  It is something that I truly enjoy.  Family is something that is very important to me and this is the reason why I have decided to focus my practice on a couple of areas that have an impact on the family and the individual members.

I have been a family law attorney for more than 36 years.  I represent both men and women in divorce and family law cases, including property division, child custody and physical placement, child support, maintenance and paternity.  I have also served as a Guardian ad Litem in divorce and paternity matters where I was appointed by the judge to represent the best interests of minor children whose parents are litigating custody and placement. I also provide mediation and arbitration services for parties who are interested in resolving their family law disputes without costly litigation.. Ryan is a Partner at MacGillis Wiemer, LLC and is a trial attorney. He focuses his practice on Family Law and Civil Litigation cases. Ryan is a graduate of the Marquette University Law School and received his undergraduate degree in communication from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. While in law school, Ryan was a judicial intern with the Wisconsin Court of Appeals.. Ryan is also a Judge Advocate General (JAG) in the U.S. Army Reserve. Ryan has been in the Army for over fifteen years and has achieved the rank of Major. Ryan currently works as a Deputy Team Leader for a Legal Operations Detachment.. Kara grew up in Charlotte, Arkansas.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis on Public Speaking from the University of Central Arkansas in 2008. In 2011, she earned her Juris Doctor with Honors from the Bowen School of Law in Little Rock . While in law school, Kara was a member of the trial competition team and the Henry Woods Inn of Court.  Kara joined the firm in 2011, and lives in Harrisburg where she is very active in rodeo and other equine events.

I was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. I married Peter Prashad in 1995. I have a step-daughter and two beautiful granddaughters who are 8 and 2.. I obtained my undergraduate degree in Justice and Public Safety from Auburn University at Montgomery, and my Juris Doctorate from the University of Alabama School of Law in Tuscaloosa, AL. I received my license to practice law in Alabama in 2002.. During law school, I clerked for a firm in Tuscaloosa and after becoming licensed, I practiced with that firm as an associate for two years. In 2004 I returned home to Montgomery and opened up my own practice. My practice has always centered around the area of family law. In 2004 I volunteered at the Family Sunshine Center assisting women who were victims of domestic violence and was recognized as volunteer of the year.
