Thomas P. Winters grew up in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. He went to Hamline University where he double majored in Legal Studies and Political Science. From there, he went to William Mitchell College of Law where he obtained his Juris Doctor in May 2009.. Thomas has spent most of his legal career concentrating on helping people that often feel helpless. He spent his summer between his first and second year of law school volunteering with Tubman Family Alliance in Minneapolis. Here, he would help advocate for victims of domestic abuse. He would assist them in obtaining an order for protection, and work with them to find a safe place for them to go.. From there, Thomas spent his final year of law school working with the Ramsey County Public Defenders Office. With the Public Defenders Office, Thomas spent much of his time negotiating plea agreements with the prosecutors. He also would perform bail arguments to help defendants pleading not guilty get out of jail. He performed some investigative work, and helped attorneys prepare cases for trial.. After law school, Thomas spent a year working with Thomson Reuters as a document reviewer. Here, he would spend much of his time reviewing and proofreading legal documents before they were published.. Outside of work, Thomas spends a lot of time working out in the community. His community involvement was instilled in him from an early age by his parents. He grew up working in his Dad's mechanic shop and on the family farm. He was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church in nearby West Union. All through high school, he spent time volunteering at the church. He was a regular mass server through tenth grade. Mr. Miller’s philosophy in his estate planning practice is to protect your legal rights while honoring your wishes and to do so while respecting your loved ones, financial situation, and family situation no matter how typical or atypical.. His further philosophy is that Mr. Miller wants the client to understand and be comfortable with the legal effect of their document(s) or their decisions. While Mr. Miller can’t make you a lawyer, he’ll do his best to make sure you have enough understanding that you can make an educated decision about your estate plan.. Further, Mr. Miller believes that the client should feel completely free to ask questions and not be “talked down to”, no matter how large or small, about the estate planning process. Most of Mr. Miller’s estate planning work is on a flat-fee basis; meaning that the client is not spending billable hours on questions.. Also, Mr. Miller believes an important quality of a professional is being able to say “I don’t know” if a person doesn’t know an answer. This means that he does not like to “shoot from the hip” and guess when it comes to your legal matter; if there’s doubt on an answer, Mr. Miller prefers to research the question and come up with the best answer under the law and available facts. Frequently, there is no extra charge for this assuming the work falls under the scope of a flat fee agreement. Even if there is a charge, Mr. Miller will help the client determine first if there is actually a need to research the answer to that question before spending the client’s valuable resources.. The client should know relatively close, what the anticipated attorney’s fees and expenses should be at the beginning of representation. Because Estate Planning practice rarely involves the court, the attorney’s fees and expenses are more accurately estimated. While there are still some unknowns that can increase fees beyond the initial estimate, the costs for those unknowns and what is an ‘unknown’ will be communicated and dealt with in the fee agreement between lawyer and client so there are no big surprises. Most flat fee work will have small or very controllable unknowns; or, the unknowns can be investigated easily before signing the fee agreement.. Mr. Miller is a born-and-raised Texan. When not practicing law or pursuing continuing legal education, I enjoy singing. I am a current memeber of the New Mexico Gay Men's Chorus.  I am the former President of the Chorus, and currently serve on the Board of Directors.. I am also an acitve member of the New Mexico LGBTQ Bar Association, and I serve as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the organization.. I am an infrequent artist, and when I have the time, I enjoy creating works of art in graphite, chalk, pastels, and watercolors.

Mr. Kutteh has been engaged in the general practice of law in Statesville, North Carolina since 1976. He has always had an interest in the business aspects of law practice, choosing to focus his practice in the areas of estate planning and administration, business and corporate planning, tax planning and real estate.
