Jaron Gurney is a Partner in Catawba County, North Carolina and works out of the firms Hickory office. Jaron primarily practices law in the area of criminal defense. He also serves as the Vice Chair of the firm’s Criminal Law Practice Area Group.. Jaron attended North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro where he earned his B.A. in History. He went on the earn his J.D. from Charleston School of Law. Jaron was the Vice President of the Historic Preservation Law Society where he worked with local leaders to protect the historic homes buildings and noteworthy infrastructure during the ongoing expansion of the city. While in law school Jaron also clerked for several small firms in the area, and learned the importance of the attorney client relationship, and how effective communication is essential to effective representation.. Jaron is originally from Trinity NC, and continues to live there with his wife, daughter and black lab. Jaron enjoys tending his garden, surf fishing the Outer Banks, live music, and watching Star Wars with his daughter in his free time.

Josh Mitchell was born in Raleigh, and has lived in the Triangle Area for most of his life. He was a member of the first graduating class at Cary Academy, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Piedmont College outside of Athens, Georgia. Mr. Mitchell worked as youth & campus minister for several years prior to attending law school at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh. While in law school, he focused on Criminal Law and Trial Advocacy, including interning for a Wake County District Court Judge, and at the Harnett County District Attorney’s Office.. In his free time, Mr. Mitchell enjoys spending time with his family and friends, playing golf, and attending sporting events and concerts. His passion for helping people drew him to law school, and he is quick to draw upon his experiences in ministry and education when assisting others.

I was born and raised in Kinston, North Carolina.  Shortly after graduating from High School, I enlisted for a 6 year stint in the US Navy where I served as a Firecontrolman.  During that time, I did two Mediterranean Deployments, one North Atlantic Deployment, and several short operations in the Caribbean.. After the Navy, I returned to NC where I began working in the Research Triangle Park at night and attending classes at NCSU in the morning where I eventually obtained an undergraduate degree in Economics.. Immediately upon graduating from NCSU, I was accepted to and began law school at NCCU.  Since graduation, I have spent my time defending those who have been unfortunate enough to come into contact with law enforcement while allegedly committing a bad act.. I also offer help to those who are in need of a simple estate plan or perhaps having some issues with their marriage.
