I am a 2016 graduate of The University of Texas School of Law.  Prior to working at MBBC, I interned at the Travis County Attorney's Office and the Travis County District Attorney's Office, where I gained invaluable experience in the criminal law field.

I have been practacing law since 1979, and am admitted to practice in all Texas Courts and before the Western, Southern, Northern and Eastern United States District Courts. In addition, I have appeared before the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals. Over the last 35 years I have tried numerous cases in misdemeanor and felony courts in various ares of Texas from Austin to Houston, Dallas and Marshall and many places in between. I have tried to verdict cases in the United States District Courts in Houston and Tyler. For the past 20 years I have primarily limited by practice to criminal defense.

I am an indepedent insurance agent and a lawyer.  I specialize in commercial property casualty insurance all over Texas.

I hail from Lubbock, Texas, where I became a Red Raider at Texas Tech for both my undergraduate and law degrees.  After becoming involved with the West Texas Innocence Project in Lubbock, I decided that I wanted to practice criminal defense and provide a voice for the citizen accused.. I moved to the Dallas area to become a public defender for Kaufman County after law school and handled nearly every type of offense there as First Assistant Public Defender.  In 2010 I moved to Austin to come to work at the Law Office of Jamie Balagia, where I received specialized training in the defense of DWIs.. I am proud to have recently opened my own law practice where I will continue to serve Texans accused of all criminal offenses and the problems that stem from these kind of issues.  I have handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases in my four years of practicing law and love nothing more than helping defend the rights of others.. Personally, I am all about friends and family, love the arts, reading, and traveling.

David served in the United States Navy in a highly trained and specially skilled Antiterrorism/Force Protection Unit.  After his enlistment, David became a police officer.  First, patrolling the streets of South Florida and then, here, in Austin, Texas.  David served both as a patrol officer, and as a S.W.A.T. officer, and was specially trained as a certified hostage negotiator. He has investigated all sorts of crimes, ranging from DWI to murder.  This practical law enforcement experience affords David a detailed understanding, an expertise, of police policy and procedure..
