Ms. Candice Mendez attended University of South Florida in Tampa, FL where she received bachelor’s degrees in Criminology and Interdisciplinary Social Studies with cognates in Political Science and Sociology. While there she was also an active participant in campus life, working in the university and surrounding community in a variety of ways.. After completion of her undergraduate degrees, Ms. Mendez began her legal studies at the Appalachian School of Law in Grundy, Virginia. As a law student, Ms. Mendez saw the vital role that service plays in the development of an attorney, and she continued her history of being an active participant in her community. I graduated from Hixson High School in Hixson, Tennessee and did my undergraduate studies, with a dual major in Honors Political Science and English, at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.  My JD (law) degree came from the George Washington University Law School in Washington, DC, where I finished first as an oralist in the Phillip Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition and was appointed to be a Member of the GW Moot Court Board.. During law school, I clerked for a federal securities law firm and a prominent worldwide international trade law firm. Post law school, I served both as in-house counsel and corporate trainer for a large, Chattanooga, TN based corporation focused on enhancing the brand image of Fortune 500 companies.  I then worked for a multi-state insurance defense law firm for 13 years before I started Jones & Associates, PC.. I enjoy fly fishing, deep sea fishing, scuba diving, snow skiing and reading during my spare time.. Presently, I am a student, studying for a Masters of Science in Psychology at the Southern New Hampsire University.

Though born in Connecticut, Alexa grew up in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee. She knew from an early age she wanted to be a lawyer and, after earning bachelors degrees in both political science and history from Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, she went on to law school. Alexa graduated from Belmont University College of Law in 2017. While attending Belmont, Alexa was part of the university’s mock trial program, her team making it to the ABA’s Labor and Employment Mock Trial Competition semifinals in late 2016. She also helped found the Belmont Criminal Law Journal and was a peer mentor. Alexa completed internships with The Honorable Judge Mark Fishburn of Davidson County Criminal Court and the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services (TALS). In recognition for her work with TALS, Alexa was named the Tennessee Bar Association’s 2017 Law Student Volunteer of the Year.. After earning her law degree and passing the bar exam, Alexa and her law school roommate, started the firm of Baumgardner & Spata. There Alexa began her career primarily representing criminal defendants who could not afford to hire an attorney. Alexa joined the firm of Goble and Yow in 2021.. Outside of practicing law, Alexa enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, and watching reality television.

I received a Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Tennessee College of Law in 2014.  I practiced immigration law prior to joining the Clarksville, Tennessee, firm Patton & Pittman in October 2015.  My practice is mainly composed of civil and criminal litigation at trial and appellate levels.
