My law practice is dedicated to protecting individuals’ rights and aggressively fighting for them in both criminal defense and family law matters.  Over the past 25 years, my office has experienced great growth.  Our focus, however, has remained the same – our clients.. While my professional background and experience is important for you to know, many of my clients appreciate learning a bit about who I am outside of work.  I have been married for 29 years, and my wife and I have seven children.  I stay active by participating in 5k races, riding my bike, and playing sand volleyball.  I am a fan of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln athletic programs (Go Huskers), and I also enjoy Tom Clancy novels.. Born in a United States Army Hospital in Aberdeen, Maryland 1957, Mr. Lakin is the son of an Army Doctor.         Mr. Lakin grew up in the Detroit Metropolitan area and graduated from Wayne State University; then attending Detroit College of Law at Michigan State University.      While attending law school, Mr. Lakin became interested in the area of Criminal Law. Matthew J. Morrison is a criminal defense attorney serving all of Northern Virginia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Chapman University in Orange County, California and earned his Juris Doctor from George Mason University School of Law in Arlington, Virginia. Chatocwa McWhorter graduated Magna Cum Laude from Marymount College of Fordham University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. While at Fordham, she received the Psychology Department Medal for attaining the highest grade point average in the department and another medal for having one of the top grade point averages in the Legal and Policy Studies Department. Chatocwa is a member of four academic honor societies including Alpha Sigma Nu and Delta Epsilon Sigma. Chatocwa went on to receive her juris doctorate from Liberty University School of Law. After graduation, Chatocwa gained considerable knowledge as an Assistant Public Defender for the Newport News Public Defender’s Office and as an Associate Attorney for Patel and Dalrymple, PLLC.
