I am licensed to practice law in state and federal courts in California and Missouri. I have over 30 years of experience in the field of criminal law, including nearly 17 years as an Assistant Federal Public Defender. In addition to trying 40-50 cases to a jury in state and federal courts, I have also submitted over 50 appellate briefs to the United States Court of Appeals.. I have tried the most serious types of cases to a jury, including murder, rape, assault, and drug distribution cases. My career highlights range from securing an acquittal in a prison murder case after two co-defendants were convicted in separate trials to securing a woman's release from Missouri's death row in a post-conviction challenge.. Beyond my extensive trial experience, I also have significant management experience. I was hired to run a mid-sized public defender office in Missouri at the age of 28, where I tried my first death penalty case. I was then promoted to run one of three capital litigation offices in the state. I later served as the regional supervisor over 5 public defender offices in the St. Louis metropolitan area. I also supervised a Federal Public Defender branch office in Missouri for 14 years.. I have a unique ability to build trust and rapport with my clients and their families during an extraordinarily difficult time in each of their lives. I believe in fully educating each client so that they can make truly informed decisions. I also have a track record of achieving outstanding results for my clients on a consistent basis.

Attorney Jason Messina obtained his Juris Doctor from Western New England University School of Law. Before founding the Law Office of J.W. Charles E. Tiernan, III, is a partner in the firm of Lynch, Traub, Keefe & Errante, P.C. Mr. Tiernan represents individuals, municipalities, employers, health insurers and insurance carriers in all aspects of workers' compensation. Mr. Tiernan also has extensive experience in all phases of criminal law and litigation, including trials in both state and federal court, and focuses a major part of his practice on cases involving charges of operating under the influence, and the administrative aspects of those charges which relate to license suspensions, before the Department of Motor Vehicles. Mr. Tiernan additionally handles juvenile matters, including both delinquency and neglect, as well as family matters involving marriage dissolution.. Tax Court and the U. S. Supreme Court.  Mr. Tiernan is a member of the American, Connecticut and New Haven Country Bar Associations and is a member of the Criminal Law Executive Committee of the Connecticut Bar Association.  Mr. Tiernan is a member of the Ansonia-Milford Judicial District Grievance Panel of the Connecticut Grievance . Tiernan is chairman of the State of Connecticut Judicial Selection Commission.
