Attorney Cynthia W. Sheppard currently practices in the areas of personal injury, family law, worker’s compensation and employment law. Attorney Sheppard graduated from Connecticut College in 1989, and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Connecticut in 1993, where she was an Executive Board Member of the Moot Court Board. While attending law school, Attorney Sheppard published “Exoneration Clauses in Wills and Trust Instruments,” Hofstra Property Law Journal, Spring 1992, with Professor Robert Whitman and “Insurance Bad Faith Litigation, A Primer,” Connecticut Bar Journal, October 1993, with Attorney Robert B. Yules.. Since 1993, Attorney Sheppard has been licensed to practice law in Connecticut, and has actively practiced in Connecticut and in Memphis, Tennessee, where she resided from 1999 to 2004. She has a broad range of experience, having initially practiced in the area of real estate and title searching, and gradually moving into the field of litigation, including plaintiff’s personal injury, family law, worker’s compensation, and employment law. My relationship with the City of Milford goes back to the founding of the Town in 1639. A direct descendant of at least 15 founding families and four of the late comers (1640s), Milford's Martyr Steven Stow, a Connecticut Governor (Treat) and second pastor of the First Church (Newton) while my Barnes lineage (from Vermont and Massachussetss until 1880) includes three passengers on the Mayflower (1620). Three Irish wives out of the last four generations reshaped my otherwise pristine Yankee English heritage (I am thus 11/16 Irish).. She is a member of the Wisconsin Bar Association, the Milwaukee Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Foley Inns of Court, the Society of Family Lawyers, the Collaborative Family Law Council of Wisconsin, and the Divorce Cooperative Institute of Wisconsin.. Prior to her career in law, Roberta was a news producer (in the studio and on location) and part-time field reporter at WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee and at WCCO-TV in Minneapolis.. She previously practiced at Halling & Cayo, S.C. for 15 years before running her own law practice for 10 years.. She is a Marquette University Law School Graduate. She double majored in Mass Communication and Political Science from UW-Milwaukee and has a Master’s Degree in Political Science from UW-Milwaukee.. Robert McMillan Arthur is an attorney with Arthur Law Office LLC, practicing in the Metro Milwaukee area and the Fox Valley. I work as an attorney and mediator at Hansen and Hildebrand in the area of family law, specifically divorce, post-judgment, child custody, child support and family-related financial issues. I also worked part-time as a Deputy Family Court Commissioner for 7 years in Racine County, Wisconsin where I heard a wide variety of matters including child support enforcement, temporary hearings, post-judgment motions and stipulated final divorces.. An attorney should be a guide for a person through the legal system. Protecting them from dangers but also pointing things out that might be beneficial.. As a practicing lawyer, I have always tried to serve in this role. The client's goals are primary; my job is to use legal machinery to reach those goals.
