My primary areas of practice are family law, criminal defense and criminal appeals.  I have bar admissions to the State Bar of California, the Federal Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the Central District of California, the Eastern District of California and the Southern District of California.. My criminal defense experience includes domestic violence matters, assault and battery, DUI, white collar crimes and more.. I have also practiced family law with regards to child custody and visitation issues as well as premarital agreements.. My office is located in Long Beach in the heart of the Bixby Knolls community.

I've been practicing law for over twenty years, almost all of it in Thurston County Family and Juvenile Court. I became a family law Guardian ad Litem in 2011, and served in that role for many years. I have accepted various court appointments over the years, representing minor children in dependency cases; both parents and children in minor guardianship cases; and petitioners in domestic violence protection order cases. I have occasionally served as a Title 4 GAL to investigate a party's competency.. In 2024, I was honored to begin serving the community in the capacity of Pro Tem Settlement Conference Judge, and my interest in that led me to take the Professional Mediation Training offered by the Thurston County Dispute Resolution Center, so that I may join the list of court-approved private mediators in 2025.. I became a lawyer because I like to help people and have a penchant for finding creative solutions to difficult problems. I understand how stressful family law is for the client, so I remain accessible at all times, whether it be by email, telephone, or even text. I'm also mindful of the financial impact the case has on a client - hiring a lawyer is expensive, but the costs should not be unreasonable. I like to teach, so strive to educate the client along the way, both regarding the law and the process, so that they may make informed decisions about their case. I believe that the best outcome is an agreed one, but I do also spend plenty of time in court arguing my client's position when a reasonable settlement cannot be reached.. I love what I do and consider myself fortunate to be in a profession that allows me to help people in such a profound way, while also giving me the freedom to pursue personal pursuits, such as playing basketball, listening to music, and teaching others D&D (including the afterschool club I founded at my kids' school). I live in Olympia with my two children.

Amy practices family law and also serves as a court-appointed attorney in child dependency, sexual assault and domestic violence protection order cases. Amy continues to handle guardian ad litem cases and also volunteers her time at the Neighborhood Legal Clinic in Tacoma.. She is a graduate of Washington State University. She is a member of the Washington State Bar Family Law Section as well as the Thurston and Pierce County Bar Family Law Sections.

I have more than 20 years of experience as a practicing attorney, mostly within the discipline of Family Law.  While I have experience in other areas, such as business formation and civil litigation, I have been handling Family Law cases since the day I was sworn in as a lawyer.  I believe I have the right temperament for this particular area, as it takes a delicate balance of legal acuity, mental toughness, and empathy for my clients.  Too much of any one of these traits and the case can be derailed or the client can feel abandoned.. I am a family man myself.  I have been married for more than 15 years and have three young children.  My career and my family help me keep both in focus, as both are incredibly important to me, but placing focus too much on one, will cause the other to suffer or fade.

I have been involved in the legal field since 2004.. I have experience working in Immigration, Criminal law, Family law and Personal injury.. Prior to my career as an attorney, I applied my Business degree and worked as a business manager for an international retailer.. I graduated from California State University Fullerton, with a degree in Business Management with an emphasis in Business Law. I obtained my law degree from Trinity Law in Santa Ana. Upon graduating, I took the bar and passed on my first attempt.. Before opening my own practice I spent time working at: an Immigration Law firm, Criminal Law Firm, a DUI firm that deals exclusively with multiple offenses, and a Employment Law firm. I excelled at each firm, and spent my time learning the ins and outs of the field, so I could better serve my clients.. Since opening up my own firm, I have branched into Family law and other fields to better serve my clients.. One of my major strengths, is my speaking ability so for hearing and in court arguments, I am at my best.. I work hard and am dedicated to getting the best possible result for my clients. Christina is a skilled litigator with substantial experience in both family law and commercial litigation. Prior to joining Walzer Melcher, Christina was an associate at a leading New York family law firm, where she worked on a variety of matters involving complex financial and custody issues. Before turning her focus to family law, Christina was a litigation associate at Mitchell Silberberg & Knupp LLP and Latham & Watkins LLP.. Christina received her Juris Doctor from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and an editor of the Columbia Journal of Law and the Arts. She received her B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude and with Departmental Honors, from Barnard College, Columbia University.. Christina was selected as a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” in New York from 2013 through 2017. Christina is currently a Vice Chair of the International Family Law Committee of the American Bar Association Section of International Law.. She is licensed to practice law in both California and New York.
