Carol A. Phinney has practiced family law in Massachusetts since 1989 and devotes her practice to matters of uncontested and contested divorce, child custody and relocation, support, alimony, paternity, abuse prevention orders and guardianships.. Carol has represented clients in high-conflict cases in courtrooms across Eastern MA. For over 25 years, Carol practiced in Middlesex, Essex, Worcester and Suffolk Counties before relocating to scenic Cape Cod in 2016. From 2002 to 2007, Carol represented the Mother in the case of Mason v. Coleman which set the current standard of review in removal cases when the parents share physical custody. Following the SJC decision in 2006 denying Mother's relocation, Carol continued to advocate for Mother who ultimately was permitted to move the children out of State. I'm a die hard Red Sox fan!  I am an avid fan of all the Boston sports teams.. I'm married to a successful business woman.  My wife is a Registered Nurse by trade.  However, she has owned her own home health care business for almost 20 years.  My lovely wife's business employs almost forty (40) people!

Outside of the law, I live in Bristol County with my wife,an art teacher, and son, a high school student.  We have two Bernese Mountain dogs that I enjoy hiking with.  I have been lucky to coach my son's aau basketball team for years and other in the past other sports.. I had Hodgkin's Lympho and have done the PMC ride for Dana Farber for many years.  I also enjoy kayaking and reading.

Prior to joining STOPA & ASSOCIATES, LLC, Ms. Howard was a Volunteer Attorney for Greater Boston Legal Services.  As a Volunteer Attorney, Ms. Howard represented clients at their CORI sealing hearings in various Courts within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts..
